3 or 5 day transfer??

Hi ladies!!

I need to decide whether to chance waiting to blast or do a 3dt. I know both have pros and cons and it's driving me nuts. It is our last chance and I am terrified of not having a transfer at all. He thinks I'll have at least 16 eggs which is a lot better than last cycle and that we will have a lot of blasts. I may see how they are doing on day 3 and go from there. Any opinions or advice?

Thank you all,
Becca

Hi Becca,
I responded to your other thread, and yes I agree...you should wait to see what you actually end up with. You are going to get many differing opinions on this...as you have seen. My RE preferred 5dt if possible (at least 6 TOP grade embies on day 3). I did do a 5dt of one blast and am now 29 weeks preg w/a singleton.

I say...if your Dr is open to a 5dt, and your numbers support that...go for it. Its always a gamble, but you have to try and trust what the Dr and Embryologist recommend.

Good luck!

My RE said that she typically likes to do 5 DTs if possible. For me, it was possible and it was successful. Although, they did plan for doing a 3 DT, if they didn't look good. The rest of my embrybabies are on ice now, waiting for me to do a FET.

After much debate following a failed IVF#1, I decided to go for a 5-day transfer IVF#2. We transferred 2 blasts & 1 pre-blast & I am pregnant with a singleton. I had 22 eggs at ER & great fertilization with ICSI, but we always had a lot of fallout between days 3 & 5. It worked for me, so I am happy with my decision to risk going to day 5 again. (IVF#1 we transfered 2 & had 0 to freeze out of 20 eggs. We did have 3 left to freeze after transferring 3 IVF #2, so each cycle can vary quite a bit).

Good luck with your cycle!

I think that it is best to wait and see how the embies do. I had a huge number of embies (25 fertilized) and had intended on doing a 5dt. However, on the third day the embryologist called and said they weren't doing so well and they didn't want to chance waiting for a 5dt. So, we transferred 3 embies on 3 three and I got pregnant with a singleton.
