Devestated - Need Hope

Is there hope that this will ever work? Do I have bad eggs? I've been told after my 1st IVF (at an RE who's stats are only 17% for my age group, which I didn't know at the time about all that stuff) I may have an egg quality issue, then 2nd IVF (different RE stats are over 50% for my age group) I was told absoultly no quality issues, I just did my 3rd IVF (2nd with same RE) and I had a positive 1st beta and now 2nd beta dropped only 19.6. I go back Sat. for final beta, which I know the anwser, I feel different already. I don't know where to go from here. I realize we have to talk to the doctor again and get his opinion. But has anyone had success after miscarriage, and chemical pregnancy (if this is what this is considered)????

I'm so sorry to hear about your sad news. I don't really have any words of wisdom to offer you, but wanted to wish you the best. DH and I have wanted to become pregnant since we were married 14 years ago. We spent many years of testing and IUIs with different levels of meds. It's too emotionally draining to fight this battle continually so we were off and on with the doctors and 7 1/2 years ago we adopted our DD. Talking to friends with negative experiences and the cost had discouraged us from trying IVF until this year. We now have many friends who finally succeeded with IVF, and our insurance decided to join the game and help out so we decided it was time. Our RE has good stats and fairly aggressive treatments, but we were blessed to have our first IVF/ICSI a success. I was 33 at the time of IVF. Both DH and I have issues, so I don't know if it woul dhave worked without ICSI. Did you try that?

Our RE does ICSI on everyone. This was our 2nd IVF with him and this time they did assisted hatching which resulted in a positive implantation. It just it's progressing. So, I don't know if we take that as a good sign something finally started to take? Sounds like a lot of women keep trying after many failed attempts. Can I ask where you adopted your DD from? And is that whole process hard?

Krissy,

I'm sorry, I know how hard this is. I've had 2 chemical pregnancies (one natural and one from IVF #1). I am now 25 weeks with twins from IV #2. So there is success after miscarriage.

I think it's a great sign that you got pregnant and wishing you much success next round.

I am sorry to hear your news Krissy. I had a missed miscarriage discovered at 12 weeks with my first round of IVF/ICSI. We were lucky enough to have some frozen. I am currently 30 weeks w/ singleton from FET. I remember my RE stating it was a good sign that I got pregnant even though I m/c'd.

Hey sweetie- You betcha there is hope. I too was told from my 1st RE that had low stats that I had egg quality issues. I did get pg with an IUI only to m/c. 10 long years later and 2 more IUI's, 4 fresh IVF's (the 4th was from a new RE), we had success with a FET with the new RE. I was your age during my 4th fresh cycle and we used the embies 2 years later. We finally had success. It's a numbers game. I'm so sorry that your recent cycle beta is dropping. I know how devastating it is.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through! You'll hear lots of success stories here that may give you hope. You can see my history in my signature, but after many IVF cycles (conceived #1 that way) and more cycles to try for #2, and a miscarriage, and being told that I had egg quality issues, I got pg on my own! So yes, you can have success after a miscarriage and with bad egg quality. By the way, after seeing four different REs, I've learned that there's a test that can tell you if you definitely have bad egg quality (if your level is above a certain number), but if your level isn't that high, it doesn't mean that your egg quality is good or not. There's no test that can tell you that you have good quality. It's either definitely bad, or they just don't know. So lots of times when the doctor says you have bad egg quality, it's just a guess based on circumstances. Do not give up on your eggs.

Be gentle to yourself and dh during this time.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hi Hon. So sorry you're going thru this. My first two IVFs resulted in chemical pregnancies. I am also 33 and it appears I have an egg quality issue. For IVF #3, I switched to a new RE and did a completely different protocol. I again had poor egg quality and my RE didn't have much hope for the cycle. It turns out that I got a bfp from that cycle and am now 22 weeks pg. Miracles can happen. My advice is to get a second, or even third opinion and try something new. A fresh set of eyes can add a whole new perspective. Best of luck to you!

I am so sorry you are going through this--this whole process is so emotionally and physically draining. I am the same age as you and my 1st IVF resulted in a chemical pregnancy. RE said right away that I have poor quality eggs and told me to take DHEA for at least two months prior to IVF. Well 2nd IVF we had wonderful results I ended up transferring 3 8-cells embryos of top quality. The result of it is that now I am 29w 4d pregnant with twin boys and I think DHEA and antagonist protocol gave me these miracle babies. I call DHEA a miracle drug.
Good luck
