When To Stop Estrogen?

We saw a HB today !!! This has been a real battle-beta hell and I am afraid to stop ANY meds. My Doc says to stop the estrogen because we saw the HB and I want to know if anyone else has stopped right after seeing HB?

I found you! I have been searching the IVF board for your update but was scared you weren't sharing for a reason. You better get over there and let everyone know your good news!
My RE said I have to stay on the estrogen (I do the vaginal cream) and PIO until I am 12 weeks. He also says no sex or orgasm until 12 weeks. After 12 weeks it has to be with a condom so sperm doesn't get on the cervix??? I am also worried about going off my medicine b/c I think what will my body think about quitting cold turkey? Some of the other girls in the Oct. due date boards got to go off their medicine after the hb too. Also, there is a warning on the estrogen label NOT to take it if pregnant b/c (of all things) it can cause problems with the baby's reproductive organs. I don't want to lose my baby b/c I go off of it but if my baby has to go through hell to get pregnant like I did I will feel responsible.
It can never be easy!
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU I CAN BARELY STAND IT! I really hope that you have all the difficulties BEHIND you and that the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful.

LeighAnn, Thanks for wondering!! I have of course been lurking around reading other posts!! I have just been laying low, I dont know I guess I was in some sort of "funk" with all of this up and down stuff! I have been through the worst time!!! After the "low" positive beta of 29 it just creeped (doubled) but not by leaps and bounds. The third beta the RE said to stop meds at 16dpt5dt it was 216. It still doubled but he said not good enough. I asked if i could wait until I had u/s to stop meds and was told ok by the nurse" if it will make me feel better" HELLO OF COURSE IT WILL MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!!! Anyway, I DID keep taking the meds. I called my OB and made an u/s appt with him since it is much much closer for me. He was shocked he told me to stop meds and wanted a baseline of his own to go off of. So I did. Well , he wanted to do another beta and wait to do u/s because he said we would not see anything -NOTHING AT ALL THAT EARLY. So we did another beta at 18 or 19dpt5dt and it was up to 798, still not out of the woods but up none the less. He still wanted to wait 2 more days to do u/s so at20dpt5dt our u/s showed a GESTATIONAL SAC and YOLK SAC-we measured 4w6d and was almost a week behind according to the RE. I wonder if it isn't the morula that implanted late? We T/F 2 early blasts and 1 morula. -- WE WERE THRILLED!! You could imagine!! I called the RE's office and told the Nurse and she talked to the RE, he said that I could do another u/s at my OB"S office at his discretion. I asked the nurse if I was realeased and she said "I GUESS" -whatever--I was fuming about how he treated this!!

We then waited another week and our u/s showed OUR LITTLE FIGHTING BEAN AND A BEAUTIFUL HB! it measured 6w2d and looked fine --its planted up high in the uterus and U/S tech said usually when you look like you will M/C it will be planted near the cervix. I hope it wants to hang out for 8++ months!!!

My EDD is 11-10-05!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to write. I started a new job and can't seem to get on here until the weekend. Whoohoo, I got a 2nd wind today!
I'm sorry you've been through so much but I am so happy that you keep plugging away! When do you have another appointment? You're about 2 weeks behind me and I just got to see my baby move on my 9wk u/s. I can't wait until you get to experience it too. It will just put you over the edge.
Sorry to take over your estrogen post!! Did you decide what to do?
Are you posting on the November dd board? I haven't checked but wanted to keep track of your updates.

hi, I am new to this board, and happened to see your message. well I live in Israel, and here the ivf techniques are very advanced. here the standard procedure is to get progesterone in form of vaginal tablets until the end of the 12th week, but yes estrogen you dont need, usually that they stop after embryo transfer, or when they see your blood test that the level is suffcient. I think its rather individual, as for example I didnt get estrogen at all, you should probably listen to your doctor, but ask about the progesterone, as I know that that indeed has a helpful influence against miscarriage, and definately doesnt harm the baby. congrats on the hb!
