How do you know when they are ready?
Lately my dd has been holding her self when she has to go potty, and tells me that she has pee pee. She is also wants to watch me go to the bathroom. I am not sure though if she has the maturity to start potty training and be successful or if she can understand the concept. She is not even 19mo yet. How will I know when she is ready to start? We have been talking about it with her in a very casual way.

If she's telling you she needs to peepee and is interested, I'd give it a try! You can always back off and restart later if you decide she isn't ready. Might as well let her get on the potty next time she tells you she needs to go and see what happens. Lots of praise when she does go! Good luck!

I agree it sounds like she may be ready. You can, as DM suggested, take it up a notch by putting her on the potty say before she takes a bath and see how she does. If she seems to do well at that time then you can add another "potty time" to you're routine and build from there.
I began when DD was around 18 months, so it's not unheard of to start that early. Good luck!!
