We are in the same situation as some of the others. Our cutoff here is December first, so we miss the cutoff by three weeks, so William will be the oldest in his class and not start kindergarten until he is almost 6. Our school district does have a pre K program but it is not available for everyone. It's open first for children in need of special help, then for low income families, and and available space after that is either a lottery of first come basis. I'm hoping we will get in, although it's still two years away. I'm thinking of doing a nursery school a few days a week either this January or next fall.
