Hi ladies,
Evan had an accident last Friday at daycare.
We got a call that he got his finger caught in a door there and it wouldn't stop bleeding.
We picked him up and went to the ER, telling them the same thing.
They didn't think that was reason for priority, so our saga lasted 9 more hrs at the ER. By the 7th hours I flipped because his finger was still bleeding.
We hadn't unwrapped it from the daycare because it was causing him so much pain. Finally a nurse unwrapped it to find that it had been 3/4 severed.
We were then put in priority. He had xrays, then 4 attempts at getting an IV into him and finally once we was 'out', they removed his nail and reattached his fingertip. I got ill in the ER watching as the drug they used to sedate him kept his eyes wide open and seeing all the blood that I had to leave to compose myself.
He saw a hand specialist in plastics on Monday. It's too early to tell if the fingertip will "take" yet, so it's just a waiting game right now.
He's in great spirits though and a trooper.
As for how it happened. The toddlers were all leaving to go outside to play.
Evan and his teacher were the last to leave the classroom. She got distracted by another child and let the door close on him.
The doors are 8ft tall, solid heavy wood (self-closing doors that slam when you let them go). His finger got caught in the hinge area of the door. We were told that we were lucky that he kept his finger and it wasn't worse.
I've included some photos.

. Glad he is doing better. Hopefully it will take and he will be fully recovered soon.
