I know...Mothers Day in August?! But I am soo excited and it has been nice having this to look forward to for a few months. The short story is that the Mothers Day weekend in May was dedicated to our Moms (Saturday for MIL and Sunday for my Mom) and I was to pick and alternate date to have my Mothers Day and I was going to get to get a massage and pedicure at a day spa at some point during that day. DH heard about a local radio station running a special where you pay $28 for a $50 certificate to the spa I like so I called right away and got the last one they had. I also had asked for gift certs to this spa for my last birthday and Christmas so I had a nice stash of gift cards ready and waiting. So I was able to upgrade my massage to a spa package. Sounds good to me!! I NEVER do anything like this for myself. I have not had a professional pedicure since right before the girls were born. I have not had a professional massage since right before we conceived the girls. I CAN NOT WAIT!!! Hmmm...maybe this massage will bring me the same luck?!
So I waited about 2 weeks after Mothers day to call and book my appointment. What a procrastinator!! And of course all the Moms who received gift certificates had called and booked their appointments by then. So August 12th was the first Saturday apt that matched up with my schedule.
So tomorrow I am going in at 9:30 am for my special day. I will be there until 2:30 and they are feeding me lunch!!!! I chose the Ladies Retreat which includes ..... drum roll please......
Deep Cleansing Facial
Swedish Massage
Manicure
Pedicure
Refreshments and Lunch!!!
DH is taking the girls to his Moms while I am gone so he has some help with them. When he told me this I jokingly said.....
Me: "Maybe someday when I go somewhere you will take the girls somewhere other than your Mom's." To which he responded....
DH: "Are you kidding?! I never even take them to my Mom's....I usually have her come here. Do you realize I have not taken them to my Mom's by myself since they were babies. I do not even know how to load them both up in the truck. I have never done it without you."

Oh My. Ladies, can you see that I really need my little day of relaxation tomorrow? Honestly, he is only taking them to his Mommy's and he is all nervous. Do you know that he has NEVER EVER even taken them out in our fully fenced in back yard by himself? If I am not home those kids do not get to play outside. Good thing I am ALWAYS home
. Boy, that man really needs me. Good thing I love him.
Off to indulge my cookie and milk obsession......on tonights menu is a delicious reeces pieces cookie with a tall glass of milk.

Hee hee. DH and I are having a giggle about this.
Ok. I'm giggling. Dh is looking justifiably annoyed. We JUST had a similar conversation the other night about how he never takes them anywhere without me. He will go into the UNfenced back yard, or around the block in the wagon, or even to the elementary school playground. He doesn't take them anywhere in a car unless I'm with them. He "claims" that is because I am always with them.
Whenever I leave the house, I'll ask if he wants me to leave my car (the one with carseats) and he always says no. The other night I told him we need to start changing that.
Have a blessedly wonderful day at the spa K! You deserve it!Janet (44), DH (44)

Oh Kim, that sounds so wonderful
Enjoy it!
DH has not taken them anywhere by himself yet either. Only one kid at a time. I don't think he'd do it alone yet - I'm always with him too
He does say to me "I really don't know how you do it, because I know I can't".....

Have a fantastic relaxing enjoyable day at the spa! It sounds wonderful!!
My DH has never taken the kids anywhere either. Janet, my DH is like yours...if I ask him if he wants me to leave the car, he says "No, I'm not going anywhere", or if he does say yes...he still never goes anywhere!

By now you're out of your appointment and thoroughly relaxed and even more beautiful! I hope you enjoyed it! Me, on the other hand, sitting here on edge waiting for B to wake up from her nap, grubby 'cuz I've been thrashing. cleaning - in other words very jealous!
I hope you had a great Mother's Day - and that dh handled the kids as well as you would've! Okay - as well as you hoped!
For the record, my H has only truly been alone with B for a period of time maybe 3 - 4 times. Otherwise he picks her up from school (maybe once a week) and goes straight to his mothers.

I stand corrected! DH took them once alone to the mall for something but they were in the double stroller the whole time. He just reminded me of that....LOL

Hey ladies. He did just fine...well, I mean MIL did. Anyway, the girls were happy and had a nice day. The only casualty was that K's fashion sense may be scarred for life if she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror at any point in the day. I left dressing them up to him and poor K's outfit was sooo big and her shorts were falling down. And both girls were dressed from the little boy handmedown pile from my nephew that I reserve for desperate laundry times. But they looked like the cutest lil' boys I had ever seen. Not sure how he missed all the girly clothes but maybe he was just sick of pink and purple. And K got maple syrup in her hair from breakfast and Dh did not notice until he got to MILs that K's hair was all clumped in the front and hanging in her eye. MIL fixed that for him right before she made and fed them all their lunch. He said he got to just sit back and relax at his Moms and it was nice. In other words she took care of the girls AND HIM.
So funny. I had a very nice and relaxing day. And now I have the cutest dark pink toes I have ever seen. I love getting a pedicure!Kim
