I was reading the gift post and realized I might be the only one who hates video games. Not just for me, but for my kids too. I don't even like when they play with their Webkins online for more than 20 minutes. Dh is with me on this one. Neither of us has ever owned any kind of game system and aren't interested.

No, you're not alone. I'm not a big fan (might not seem that way, but it's the total truth!). My boys have Leapsters- they are limited in how much they can use them and they really have learned a lot from them. We have a Wii, but use it mainly for family fun- I think it was only used 2 times the whole summer too. C1 is getting a DS Lite for his 7th birthday. He will be limited in how much he can use it and he won't have any violent games- I want one at our house so I can buy the game that lets you design your own animal hospital- I used to do that on paper when I was about 11 yrs old and had so much fun. I know C2 will be mad that he doesn't get one, but I don't think he needs one at his age.

No, you are not the only one. I never liked video games growing up (remember pac man?)LOL! It's not something I want my kids into right now. They also don't have Ipods
This is just my own opinion but I want my kids to be kids. They are only this young once and I want them to do age appropriate things right now. I'd much rather have them make up games like my girls are doing now, or play with their polly pockets or their other toys. I don't want them sitting in front of the TV playing with video games. It's bad enough that Angela really can be a couch potatoe if I let her watch too much TV. I can not even imagine her playing a video game."Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things"

Kyra has the Leapster...she plays it once in a while. But is very educational. We do have fun with the Wii....but she is not too into it. To be honest....we got that for us!
DH is big into video games...and they do like to watch him play.
I don't think I will get Kyra the DS lite. She is not ready. It seems like yesterday that we just got her the leapster.Robyne

I have to add that I did get Angela the Leapster for her birthday last Feb. she really isn't all that interested in it. She'll play with it once in awhile but she'd rather play with her other board games.

We don't have video game or electronics(Leapster) either. We don't or the kids. I admit I was a TV addict as a child I read a lot but I watched so much TV. The girls don't really. They are at school all day then there isn't any time for them at night. Weekends are full too. They were at my in-laws yesterday while I was at our mx club sale. They were watching the Disney Channel when I picked them up. Why do people think because it starts with Disney that it's okay for all ages? Anyway for now(I'm sure this will change) the girls are content fantasy playing, reading, coloring, and dancing to CD's!!

We have no gaming systems in this house, hand held or otherwise. My girls do a few online games/websites, but its pretty limited, as is TV in general.
