It started off as a normal day. The preschool is located right behind my office building. I bring Lee to work with me, we are here for about 15 mins then I walk him to school.
I walked in today, handed over our slip for the zoo trip Friday and started to walk away. His teacher said "Oh, wait, I have Lee's cap and gown, you can go ahead and take it."HIS CAP AND GOWN

For some reason I've been very emotional about him turning 5. I have to look hard to see any baby in his face. He plays outside and I tell to stop this or that. DH looks at me and mouths "Why?". My mind scrambles to come up with a Why. I want to shout "Because he's just a baby and babies don't do that!" But he's not. He's five. In five more years he'll be ten. Ten is such a big kid............
I have a co worker with a high school senior. She's been talking about how emotional she is about him graduating. As she talks I think I'll be there some day. I was not expecting to be hit with that emotion TODAY. I walked back to work and said now I know how you feel about J. because I just picked up Lee's CAP AND GOWN.She's picking up her son's cap and gown today too.
Thanks for listening.

Aww!
I know - it is amazing they are getting so big. This year, really since John has turned 5 he really has gotten so much more mature. he still does come to me for hugs and snuggles but less than before. I am starting to see that those days are numbered and it makes me so sad!

I find myself doing the same thing with telling Kyler no. I really feel I hold him back. DH always has to say "mommy, he's a big boy"!

I know how you feel. The milestones were harder with Claire than they are with Lily. Not sure why...Maybe because I know we'll both survive.

I'm feeling the same way! 5 is really hitting me hard!!
It's strange that they're not a toddler anymore.
