Any ideas for a preschool craft activity?

    Hi Ladies:

The preschool teacher is inviting each family in to spend a day with the class. I'm supposed to come up with a craft that I can do with the children on the 27th of November, and it can't be related to any holiday. In addition, we're supposed to bring in something that we like to do as a family...I'm planning to have a selection of our favorite games, because Frankie loves to play them. Do any of you have an easy, but fun craft that I could consider sharing with the class? I'm so uncreative, and I want to do something that will be special for them.

    Thank you very much!

    Marcy

What a fun idea!! I'm no help with the craft, though, sorry. I HATE crafts! That's why I teach the one year olds....we still eat the crayons in my class.

I think I have something that would be fun, if you have any leaves still around.

    You'll need -

    black construction paper
metallic acrylic paints (gold and copper work well)
    paint brushes
    scrap paper
    leaves

Put small amount of paint on scrap paper for each child. Give them each a leaf or two. Have them put a thin coat of paint on the veined side of the leaf. Then have the child put the leaf on the black paper. Using another piece of scrap paper, cover the leaf and press the leaf onto the paper. Lift the scrap paper and then the leaf. Very cool leaf print will be left. Have the children repeat as many times as they want.

Well, this is hardly a "craft" but when my ds was the "star student of the week" I came in with snacks, read a book and did a craft with the class. All I did was bring in a pack on different colored construction paper and two tubs of foamie stickers. I brought a dinosaur tub and a princess tub. The kids had a good time covering their sheets with stickers, and of course with stickers there is no glue or other messy stuff other than the paper peel off backs to clean up.

    Have fun!

One of K's favorite preschool crafts is making like a home made tambourine type. You get 2 paperplates, placed dry macaroni noodles between, seal around I think hers were done with staples and paint them. She loved when they made them and bugs me to still make them now.

DD's school loves to "paint" using different objects. Like pinecones, acorns, cornstalks, etc. It is fun and very tactile. Messy, though.

Also, they did a cool project on apple tasting. They cut apples, and each child had to vote whether they liked red, green or yellow apples best. Then they made a chart. The kids liked that one too.

    Have fun!! -Scout
