My 4-yr-old son and I went to Wendy's today while shopping. We're sitting there eating, and the crew comes out to bus the tables. He asks me if they are waiters, to which I answer yes, not knowing what else to call them.
E. -- "Can I be a waiter when I grow up?"
Me -- (wanting to support whatever dream he has) "If you want." (said in an encouraging tone)
E. -- (with a big, excited grin) "Can I work here?"
Me -- (again, wanting to be that supportive mom) "If you want." (Again that encouraging tone)
E. -- (bigger, more excited grin) "What can I drive?" (he's his daddy's son, more interested in cars than anything else.)
Me -- "What would you like to drive? (very interested in his answer, since he's been stuck on FJ Cruisers for a while)
E. -- (same excited grin) "A mini-van."
Bussing tables at a fastfood place and driving a mini-van. Such big dreams for such a young boy.
