Need some reading skills help please!

My sis needs a page or pages that talk about consonant sounds you sound out while reading, you know the ones that have rules because they don't fit the regular rules! Through and cough for example. She's trying to help her boys to read and needs a list of the "rules". Anyone have it or know where it is on the web? Thanks for your help!

Also any elementary teachers have series reader book recommends for late 3rd grade early 4th grade levels? I think they are into Horrible Harry right now and looking for other ones to get them. thanks!

Oh gosh, no help either, but I'm still challenged by many English words - so much just doesn't make ANY sense, lol!
    Hope someone can help you.

Online you might try looking at the sites for publishing companies. I did some freelance work for Macmillan a while back and they have a strong English series that is used in schools. Here is a site that might at least give you a place to start. I haven't gone into it so it may not be what you want, but it will give you the idea.

Also, try going to teacher's stores; there is probably one in your area. They will have consumable books (phonics) that you are referring to and will compliment what the teacher is doing at school.

Can't help much with the 3rd/4th grade reading series... been teaching the little ones for so long that I can't think of any for the older ones. Publishing companies sites might also help with that though.
