We are so ready, and I can't wait for it. She is doing so well learning to read, doing math, writing etc, I think a full week of 5 full days is going to be so great for her learning. What skills does your 5 almost 6 year old have?
She is sounding out words and writing them as they sound to her(pretty accurate too!)
We are learning to reading and progressing beautifully
Can write all her numbers and can count over 100
She is just learning basic addition and subtraction(with picture help) but none the less learning

Yes we are ready for grade 1 !!! We are actually getting DS a desk. I bought it at a garage sale years ago and it is a perfect little desk with drawers. I just need to find a skinny chair to fit in the "well".
DS is reading at a 2nd to 3rd grade level so I am not concerned there. He does tend guess big words or he reads words that sometimes he doesn't know what they mean but he can still understand the sentence! WE bought a dictionery for that and try to help him use it.
He is writing upper and lowercase words, sentences and small paragraphs. His handwriting is atrocious so we do OT for that.
He is writing numbers.
He is adding, subtracting, and learning about multiplication with groups of things.
He has learned to tell time, count coins and dollars, understand place value with ones, tens, hundreds, etc..., tie his shoe, and he just started asking about Roman numerals because our Florida condos were labeled I, II, III, and IV. and he though they were capital I's-LOL!
He is learning about hypothesis, estimation, probability, and conclusions in science.
He LOVES school and I am so glad for that. They really make it fun!!!!
He went to school full day in Pre-K and K and will continue with the full days in 1st grade. I know some schools have 1/2 day Pre-K and then some have K with 2 days a week 1/2 day and the rest full.MAV Mom to
