Question Does anyone know anything about tomoxifen (sp)

Ok so I took 5 days of tomoxifen 40 mg from day 5 through day 9. I felt my ovulation pain come on Aug 31- Sep 1 so currently on my 2 ww. But I noticed something this past friday and over the weekend. I have been leaking a little bit of breast milk from both boobs about 6- 10 drops a day. I cant find anything about this being a side effect. Does anyone know anything on this subject?

Tamoxifen alone does not generally produce that effect, though it can in conjunction with estrogen treatments. Are you taking any other medication, or supplemental herbs such as soy isoflavones?

What you're seeing is galactorrhea rather than actual breast milk -- it comes with increases in prolactin production. Many things can temporarily increase prolactin production, including an increase in nipple stimulation. It's entirely possible that a vigorous sex life in the attempt to TTC created this effect.

Unless it persists, it's not worrisome. Persistent leaking is a sign of persistently high prolactin which can interfere with conception. I would mention it to your RE at your next visit, but it's not dangerous nor can they do anything to stop it right now if indeed the tamoxifen started it.

    garnetbaby83,

I agree with sc impatient, not a common side effect of Tamoxifen. I know when I was on my estrogen patches and progesterone I had similar side effects.

If you see it getting worse, I would call or go see your RE as soon as possible. Good luck and if you need anything else, we are here for you.

Thanks ladies. It has slowd down to about 1- 2 small drops a day. I talked to my nurse about it when she called to check on me and said she wants to check my prolactin levels at my next appointment on Tuesday. Unf. I got a BFN on my HPT and AF just started so it loos like I will be going through another round of treatment soon. Unf. I will need to have an Ovidrel shot this time and my insurance doesnt cover it .

If you prefer, you can ask them to choose a different trigger shot that is cheaper. I know Ovidrel is the most expensive one. There are a couple of other types.

    I used Novarel.
