My Appt (preg ment)

I thought I should start a new post..

So went to the check up today... did progesterone and BETA today, repeat BETA on Wednesday, u/s on the 5th in 2 weeks. She went back and forth on to push the next appt back or keep it and she decided to go ahead and keep it. I wont know results till Wed.. from today and hopefully Friday for Wed..

I asked her about the MET and she sternly said DO NOT STOP TAKING IT!! So that made me feel better. So now.. we wait for results! Pee stick was still nice and dark, even though I had only held it for less than 2 hours!

You must have the patience of a saint to go to the Dr. that you go to. lol. I had to have one that had an in house lab and plenty of ultrasound machines. Those were my requirements when I was 'shopping around' for a OB. Update us when you can!

Oh, no one has inhouse labs here.. in my area. They do have 3 u/s machines, I know one can do the 3-D and 4-D... they also have the NST stuff. For DS, I didnt get anything from them.. first OB at 8 weeks and then level 2 at 20 weeks. They did a few other u/s when I had my fluid issues.

I think it has to do with the way our medical plans work out here.

You have your normal insurance, but then you have to pick a Medical Group. In that Medical group, they are actually pay YOUR BILLS when you are within the network.

So, when I had my car accident, I had to go to a different hospital, since it was an emergency, that is why my TRUE insurance will pay.. not the Medical Group.

So I have to go to a lab, Quest Diagnostics... not sure how big they are... so that the billing can be correct and not depend on where I was seen. Its kinda a mess..

My old Ob/Gyn used to do blood work at the office.. and my old PCP did as well.. but down here in LA, NO ONE seems to do that at the office any more! Unless you go to an RE maybe.. but that isnt covered anyways. Like for my son, we have to pray that the person doing the drawl... is good with kids!

Also, as far as OBs are concerned.. they are HARD to find when looking at certain hospitals. Did you know that some hospitals require you to be on their medical plan to deliver at the "prime" hospital on their list? If you are not you have to go to #2 and that isnt a good thing. I wanted to go to a certain hospital, but I found out that the medical group that I can belong to, I did not like ANY of those OBs.. the other medical group that is assigned to that hospital... can not DELIVER THERE!! WTH??? So, that is when I decided to go back to who I knew and at least I know the ups and downs... of the hospital and Office.

I have talked to many people about other OBs.. but wrong hospital or bad office issues.

Oh Well.. lol

First off - CONGRATS AGAIN!!!

Wow things work much differently up here. (northeast US)
Never heard of the medical group and each hospital having their own insurance.
Ok, well actually there is one hospital here (really good one, have their own Life Flight and Children's Hosp too, state of the art cancer treatment centers, etc- just upgraded so much they now replaced the original trauma hosp we had in another county) anyway, they have their own insurance which coincidently is the insur my DH has b/c its so dang cheap but I have a totally different insur and I'm allowed to go there for labs, docs, surgery, delivery, etc. Even though I dont have "their" insurance, this is the hosp I always go to.

We have Quest Diagnostics up here too. Actually they are pretty much in most of the US. Until I got laid off I was processing medical claims and I had tons of Quest bills so I got to see all of their addresses.

Good luck in finding a doc you like and will be convienent.
Cant wait to hear your results!

Mel~ The hospitals do their own thing.. but its the medical group that you belong to that determines where you can go! There are TONS of them here in LA.. infact, in our family, we all have different groups! 2 of those groups can go to the good hospital.. where mine is totally different!!

So I have Pacificare through UnitedHeath... but then I have to pick a medical group.. something like Healthcare Partners of Pasadena... so in that group, there is all the Drs you can choose from. If you dont like them, then you have to change groups... which then you could be changing OBs or Hospitals... Some of them have alot of PCPs but then 2 pedis and maybe 4 OBs.. it drives me crazy!!!

WOW!! That is so confusing with all the Dr/Insurance crap.... Geez, seems like it would be easier just not to go to the Dr. lol... Got that Beta number yet????
