IR - Newbie - Intake questions

Hi everyone - Glad I found you! I've had three failed donor cycles and recently dx'd with hydrosalpinx tube - surgery was two days ago to remove tube. I was also diagnosed with PCOS/IR.

I am on Metformin - 1000mg working up to 2000. I am also taking fish oil, which I am now learning can benefit with IR.

I am just starting to learn about IR and trying to figure out what my limits should be on carbs, sugar, proteins, fats, etc. I want to start a daily tracker or find one online.

Would love any advice you have! I am about 20-25 lbs overweight and now I am realizng just what a carb junky I am! It's everywhere!

Any advice on a good starting point so I don't set myself up for failure?? I know I'm going to have to work my down and find a nice balance, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi and Welcome!

I was able to start losing weight when I started taking MET. As for everything else, I do not really know if them.

Good Luck to you!

pg ment.

Welcome!! Sorry I missed this post somehow!

I started taking Metformin when I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. Unfortunately for me the Metformin alone didn't aid in me losing any weight. It does for a lot of people I just wasn't one of them. I started Weight Watchers as I had about 20-30 lbs to lose. Weight Watchers has been the only 'diet' that I was able to lose weight on. I lost 25 lbs. in 2006 and the next cycle with the combo of Femara is when I conceived my now 2 year old twins. I truly think the weight loss had a lot to do with me being able to get pregnant.

If you go to some place like fitday.com you can track everything you need to as far as nutrition goes and keep an online daily journal. It helps me a lot. Once again.. welcome! Join us on the Weekly Updates thread
