metformin

I know what metformin is - my Dad was on it for diabetes.

What does it do for PCOS? Does it decrease the number of eggs you get in an IVF cycle or does it just help those eggs be better quality? Just a little confused.

Thanks

Thanks - I guess my question is will it decrease the number of eggs that are retrieved during IVF because I have read something about it helping decrease OHSS.

I don't know what it does in regards to egg quantity. I can't imagine it decreases it...

I was on Metformin during my IVF cycle up until trigger shot.

My RE adjusted my IVF meds (Follistim, Bravelle, Menopur) etc to get a good follicle response. I wound up with 17 eggs.

Thanks for posting that article BC! I'm probably starting Metformin next month so I learned a lot!

No problem AshRS.. I hope the Met. works for you!

sduet - I have never been told that it does anything regarding the number of eggs one produces. I tried to research it and didn't come up with anything. My guess is that it doesn't help decrease the amount of eggs produced.

WOW!! I can't imagine how that would have felt. Did you cramp or feel bloated because of so many?
