Prometrium....period....ovulation?

Hi all - today was such a frustrating day in that I felt particularly overwhelmed with GETTING PREGNANT. I am so confused with all the treatments and medications and out there, not to mention I don't know why I am the *only* one (ahem, DH!) calling the dr and searching the web and making appts....isn't this BOTH of our problems?!? UGH.

And, despite my PCOS, I still haven't given up hope that I *may* be able to get pregnant without clomid....well here's to hoping. My obgyn recommended a digital fertility monitor, but also thought my only *real* chance of PG was with clomid. But i have not given up hope yet!

Anyways, my obgyn rushed me off the phone before I had a chance to ask her - or at least have her "approve" of my plan - so that's why i am looking to you lovely gals

So here it is: take prometrium for 10 days, hope for AF, then use my nifty new clearblue fertility digital monitor (love from a friend that is already pg!) and HOPE AND HOPE AND HOPE that it tells me when I ovulate...I am going to try this once or twice but if it does not work, then I will use clomid.

Does this make sense?! I just confused myself bw provera and prometrium and almost had a crying attach. BLECH!!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

The use of Povera or Prometruim will only induce AF and it is not a TRUE AF it is a withdrawl bleed because you did not O. Like when you take BCP.
Your plan sounds OK to me you should try without meds and see what happens.
You may O I know alot of gals that do and do not need drugs.
Just because you PCOS does not mean your HOPE is LOST.
AS for you DH Mine never helped with anything at all. Just hugs when I need em. Men just do not seem to get as involved as we do.
From my own expericen Clomid did nothing for me at all. I hate that stuff so bad. The side effects are awful. Mood swings, Hot Flashes, Emontional.
Are you taking anything else for the PCOS like Metiformin???
I take it for treatment of PCOS. IT does have gastric side effects GRR.
How long have you been TTC???

*preg ment*

HI!

Men will never be as involved as a women in TTC research.. unless you have an exception for dh

The CBFM (Fertility monitor) may not show O on the first cycle. The second cycle is more likly to show you more information.

I take metformin and now I am Ovulating on my own. Before I was not ovulating.... it took about 2 months and then I started back up ttc.. but to get my AF I didnt use provera, I took parsley caps and that started AF and I know that I Od cause I got preg, but ended in m/c.

I am not sure if right off of provera you will ovulate or not.. maybe google it?? Had you taken the clomid after provera.... then that will give you the hormones to ovulate.

Good Luck!

I think it is a great idea to get started with just inducing AF and seeing if you O on your own. Then if not there is always the Clomid as well as other medications if the Clomid doesn't work for you. I loved my monitor, it was a lifesaver for me as I would have never known when I was O'ing because it varied so much. PCOS is one of the most common forms of female infertility and more and more women with PCOS are getting pregnant now that Drs. have a better understanding of it. Try and take a deep breath. As far as the husband thing goes... well.. that is why I have been here at FT for as long as I have as I get my support here!! Let us know how things go! 's
