PCOS, Clomid, + Wt Loss.....

Hi all - I am a brand new member of this forum and so happy to have stumbled upon it. I feel like it is one of the only places I can be completely honest without fear of being judged, etc. So here it is:

DH and I have been talking about wanting a baby, and finally when we started TTC, I found out I had PCOS (confirmed thru US and bloodwork, though thankfully I have no symptoms). I'm at a healthy wt but the OBGYN recommended me losing just a few more pounds to help off-set the PCOS. So that's when I stumbled upon Adderal.

A friend also dx'ed with PCOS (but not TTC) told me she started taking 10g Adderal every day and had lost a significant amount of wt in a short time. Miracously her symptoms totally disappeared and she really looked great. It didn't take me long to get my own RX for Adderal, and for about the last 10 months have been taking 10mg Adderal 5 out of 7 days. I have lost 15 pounds and feel better than ever - but in the process, have completely lost my period. (My BMI is still a VERY healthy 20.8). So now i'm scared. I found a "drug" that helps me concentrate, feel more social, and best of all - depresses my appetite. But now i'm wondering what the effect Adderal has had on my period.

And i'm too scared to tell anyone about it. I'm scared to stop taking it because i'm scared i'll gain the weight back, and start seeing the symptoms of PCOS. I'm scared to stay on it because I want to remain at this weight in a healthy, natural way.

I haven't taken it in the past week, and I'm thinking of starting clomid in the next two weeks, but I would love some feedback on Adderal and PCOS and wonder what all your thoughts are on this.....and please don't blast me - i'm just being honest and am too scared to tell anyone about this!!!!!

farafier- Welcome
I am sorry you are having a hard time. I know nothing about Adderal other than it is for ADD. I know from my own experience that my period just vanished. I was doing what I should with my Metiformin and it just gone. Seems to be the beast of PCOS. I do not know if the Adderal is what caused your AF to vanish.
Good luck with Clomid. Glad you are at a health weight. Seems you have alot going in the right direction.

I have not heard of adderal taking AF away.. however that is a medication that you should not be taking when TTC. Have you tried metformin? I have lost some weight with just that alone.

Good Luck!

A medication isn't the only thing that has made you lose weight. Sit down and look at how your lifestyle might have changed such as your eating habits. I bet many things have changed just because you change your medication does not mean you will gain weight or lose the socialness or concentration.
