Normal follicle size?

I am on my first Clomid cycle (50mg) this month, took it CD 3-7. Today is CD10 and I had my ultrasound. I had a 4.6mm follicle and a 5.4mm follicle and my lining was 4 something. The nurse said the follicles were too small but that its still early and they could still grow.

Any comments on these numbers?

Could they still grow big enough to ovulate?

If I don't ovulate on 50mg, could I on a higher dose?

Any info would be appreciated! My RE's office is great but sometimes I feel like they assume I know what they're talking about and I don't because I'm so new to this...and I don't think of questions to ask until I get home!

Thanks

What I have read, is that many people tend to ovulate later with Clomid.

As for numbers and sizes, I have no clue!

Good Luck!

I always ovulated late on Clomid so those would be normal follie sizes for me on CD 10 or so. Your lining number is good!! I would say if you are going to ovulate this cycle it will be around CD 20 or so, like I used to. Will they keep checking for you via u/s? Don't let them tell you this cycle is a bust because it is very very possible it isn't. I would ask them to re-check for you. Good Luck!

Good to hear ladies, thanks! Yep, I go in again on Sunday. According to the nurse my RE is very "anal" and will make me come in as much as he can. Last month, which was my first cycle with him and just an observatory one, he had me doing ultrasounds up until CD 21.

So I had another u/s today...the follicles aren't growing very well, one on each side at 6mm. Lining is 4.9 (was 4.3 on Thursday). Going again on Friday. Not feeling too good about this. Wondering if next cycle (assuming this cycle won't be working...sigh...) they will just up the clomid. Frustrating.

Hi Ash

I know your RE and he always starts with 50mg Clomid but ups the dose if it doesn't work. he has been known to try 2-3 cycles before increasing it but I'm sure if you bug him enough he may increase it sooner.

As for your numbers, they could still grow. If you are going to ovulate late in your cycle than you still have a bit of time for them to grow. It's not a bust til AF shows up!

You were on metformin right? Dr Daya mentioned putting me on that but didn't...I'll have to ask about it next time I see him.
