How long before Metformin starts helping?

I ran out of Metformin XR so I haven't been taking it for about 2-3 weeks. I just haven't gotten my prescription refilled so it's my own fault. I am going to get it refilled today and hopefully pick it up next week (they have to special order it). I was wondering if I started taking it about a week before my IUI if it will be in my system enough to help or if I should have taken it a month or so before treatment. I just got a BFN earlier this week from my last IUI and I wonder if the lack of Metformin had anything to do with it.

I searched the web for you and it seem to be that everything I read said that the medication is completely in your system within a few days to a week at the most (I think the week would be those who suffer with malabsorption issues). You should be good to go after taking it for a couple days. Keep us updated!! I wish you the best of luck in this cycle!
