Med's for people with PCOS (son mentioned)

Hi Everyone, I'm just curious if anyone is on any special meds for their PCOS. I found out I had it right before our first fresh IVF, then got pregnant and had our son. Recently we went thru 2 rounds of FET's, on the first one we had a chemical pregnancy and on this last one it was a BFN. We have one embie left, but when we use that one, I'm just curious if we wanted to try on our own, if there was something I could do to help my pcos. Thanx everyone!

My doctor has put me on Metformin, which is a very popular drug for those with PCOS. I have PCOS, but the Metformin hasn't helped me in the past (didn't ovulate or even regulate my cycle at all) but this time the doctor is putting me on it to help improve egg quality.

Best of luck.

Like Patti, I was put on Metformin right after being diagnosed with PCOS. For me personally it didn't do anything to regulate my cycles but for some it does. I wish you luck on your next attempt. Keep us updated!

I have been on Metformin for about three months now. It has been helping me lose weight, about twelve pounds so far but I don't know if it has regulated my cycle since I have been taking Clomid as well to make me ovulate.

Alot of people w/PCOS are given Metformin. I was but I also never went past 1000 mg dosage. Maybe 1500 might of worked?? Who knows but I do think dosage is a factor "if" it works at all for you. It did nothing for me and my cycles. My RE took me off of it after he said that recent studies showed no real benefits for conceiving/reducing m/c in women w/PCOS. However there are not that many studies on it yet & that particular study was in comparison to clomid. With that said - It does work for some so it's worth a try. It's bad on the stomach though at first - so be prepared. Really bad the first few weeks and each time you up your dosage, however it does get better.

i'm on Metformin ( 2000 a day) for about a year and a half now the dosage was less at the beginning , it really works for me, once i stop it my cycle goes wrong intermediately! my doctor suggested that i take it for the first 2 or 3 months of pregnancy .
