preg/child ment.
I took 1500 mg of Metformin and did 12 cycles with Clomid (max clomid dose ever was 200mg and always taken CD 3-7). During that time I got pregnant on the 12th cycle with the Clomid only to have it end in a m/c. I decided NO MORE CLOMID for me!! I stuck with the 1500 mg of Metformin and did three cycles of 2.5 mg of Femara CD 3-7. On my third cycle of Femara I conceived and now have 21 month old twins to show for it. Femara helped my lining, the Clomid was thinning it out and with Femara there are so many less cases of m/c that I can't help but think there is just something with Clomid that has it linked with m/c's. For me personally, Femara was my miracle drug!!

Thanks!
Wow... twins off of just MET and Femara? Did you ever do a trigger? I did 6 cycles of clomid up to 150mg with ttc #1. I think I had an early m/c once due to the bleedout I had that was way beyond normal. When I had my progesterone tested, it was way high but my OB didnt do a beta.. cause that progesterone was at 7 dpo and after that bleed... I waited to test for another week and it was neg. I then went up from 50 to 100 eventually and didnt O at 100 so up to 150. I had heard and read that you dont want to do clomid past 6 months... so I was taking a break and got preg on my second month off. Clomid did regulate me though. I havent talked to my OB about meds.. cause I want to see how the MET does and if I can lose some weight. ![]() BUT I would love to read everyones thoughts!! |

I truly hope the Met is all it takes for you. That would be beyond great.
We just did the Femara and BMS. No trigger or anything. I always responded to Clomid but only got pg that one time that I m/c'ed. I think the Clomid really did a number on my lining and that was my problem with it. I knew you weren't supposed to go longer than 6 months with Clomid but I was desperate and really liked my DR. Once I realized that no matter how much I liked him he was just an OB and I really needed an RE. The RE went straight to the Femara. The Dr. that I liked a lot that was my OB got to deliver my twins so I was thankful for that. I just wish I had gone to an RE earlier. Will you be getting any u/s to check follies or just doing OPK's? Are you seeing a OB or RE now? I really hope the Met regulates you soon so you can start trying. The whole waiting part is awful! |

I see just an OB. But I got my MET from my PCP. I had all the work ups from prior about the PCOS mentioned when I was a teen. From 13 I had issues with cysts. I would go on BCPS but they made me sick, I would get off and have cysts so I would go back on.
When we first started TTC.. my pcp then said I couldnt be tested for PCOS due to not being off the pill long enough... that my ovaries would still look normal. I was having long cycles, bit nothing over 35 days. So we waited. We moved back to CA and an OB gave me Clomid. We then moved where it would be hard to do the blood draws, so after the 6 months thats when we were going to wait for a few months while I found an OB in the new area that I liked. So, this round, I went right to the PCP only cause I knew the OB would tell me I should lose weight and come back and talk after... but I need help in losing the medication weight from my fibromyalgia drugs. I will be doing the OPKs and I have the OvaCue and the clearplan monitor. So If I can lose weight and regulate my cycle within 2 months, my PCP will continue to treat the pcos, if not then I will have to go to the OB and ask for the meds, but I am sure I can lose some weight by then!! ![]() The best part.. I have NO CYSTIC ACNE!! I have not been so clear skinned since pregnant or when I had done accutane!! So MET has worked so far! |

*preg mention*
With my ob I did one round of 50 mg clomid, and didn't even ovulate. He referred me to a RE and I did 1500 mg of met and 100mg of clomid days 3-7. It worked for us that cycle, and I'm currently 27 weeks along. Dawn Last edited by DMS721; 04-19-2009 at 06:28 PM. |

When I went to the RE I started met right then. She said to give myself 3 weeks and if I didn't get my period they would give me provera. I waited and then called in for the provera and the 2nd day on the provera I got my period (so it must have been on its way), and then I started the clomid. So I had about a 3 week head start with the met. I continued with the met until 13 weeks.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is Famara? I have PCOS and have been taking Met on and off for 7 years. I've recently switched to Glumetza because of gi problems. I've been trying to regulate my cycle by increasing the Glumetza to 2000 mg. So far no luck. I'm ready to give up!
