PCOS and OPKs

I've looked on the OPK forum but not much there - I have PCOS and the doctors tell me the OPK home tests will not work for me and it also warns me on the label, but.... I'm just wondering what others experiences are? If any positive experiences, what brands, etc?

Thanks....

I don't know why but I think this varies from person to person. I have PCOS and OPK's have always worked for me. I used the OPK's and the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor every month when ttc and they both always showed me O'ing at the same time. I also got verification that they were correct by the u/s my RE would have me get. Some with PCOS say the OPK's never worked for them or that they would get false positives. Do you have an RE that would be willing to give you an u/s one moth to verify that the OPK is correct when it gives you a positive?

I think it depends on your LH levels, if you know them. An OPK detects ovulation by your LH surge. For me, I always read a false positive on the sticks, no matter what time of the month because my LH levels are high, which is one of the characterics that PCOSers often have. I am also anovulatory, but I still did not have success with the sticks when I did clomid.

I didn't have any success with the OPKs. My RE did an ultrasound to confirm ovulation.

Thanks girls - I've been using the OPKs for several days now and started out negative but once I got a positive, I kept testing and it is still positive 4 days later? Any thoughts or experiences?

Just following up to say the positive turned to negative after 5 days. Now we hope for a positive HPT to follow.
