I have PCOS and need Provera to bring on AF. Reg OB was having me take it for 10 days, RE said I only need it for 7 days.

I have been using Provera to bring on AF for more than a year now. 9 days after starting Provera I get AF regardless if I took it for 7 days or 10 days, always comes on that 9th day.

Except for last month. AF didnt come until almost 2 weeks after it should have. For more than a year it has been consistent. When I finally got it I went into RE for CD1 labs and US and turns out I had a 32mm cyst. (32mm is actually the size of a golf ball. 1 1/2 inches) So I dont know if that was the reason AF was delayed?

Mellisa--

I did in fact start AF but only after taking estogen for 2 days. Not sure if that is what caused it to come or just didn't wait long enough.

Thanks for telling me your story though you never know!

Sorry to intrude but just wanted to throw this in there-

I also took progesterone to start AF in month 4 but it never came. First, I took a preg. test and it was - then started the progesterone. Nothing. Well that's wierd! Did 3 more days or progesterone and still nothing. The day after I did a preg. test and it was + !! What??!!! How??!!!
Turns out I was 6 wks pregnant when I did the second preg test (same maker test as the first) and I had NO idea! No symptoms no nothing! That would be Garrison, our "miracle" baby.

Did IVF for the twins and my betas weren't that high all along to indicate twins until we saw them on the ultrasound. Even the nurse and Dr were shocked I guess the hormone that makes the beta numbers show up just wasn't enough for Garrison or what. I don't know. My sister had the same "problem" with her son and registering a + on the HPT.

Trin- did your Dr. do a sonogram to see the lining before giving you the estrogen?
