PCOSers, second time around...better luck or not?? Confused!
I have never had normal cycles, and need to take bcp to have AF. But i'm hoping this time around is different. I just stopped taking my bcp to start ttc#2. I've read that its sometimes easier for women with pcos to get pg the second time. We did it pretty quickly with DD, just one cycle of clomid along with my trusty metformin and we were pg...but i dont, or didnt O on my own and needed the clomid. I guess i'm trying to see if i'll O on my own now, or if i'll need clomid again. I'm temping i guess just for info right now. I'm on CD 8. I just ended my last bcp induced AF and i'm wondering if anyone has actually gotten "regulated" after pgncy. I'm wondering if i'll O, or even get AF. The Dr. says it could take a few months for the BCP to get out of my system, but i've also heard that right after stopping bcp you are more fertile. Does anyone have any info to share?! I would greatly appriciate it!

Unfortunatly it has been harder for me the second time. I had DS with no medications and just timed BMS and I was on CD 35-40 (I have never been regular either, maybe 5 cycles a year when not on meds). I have been ttc #2 for around 2 years now, I have been through Clomid, Tamonifen, and am now on Femara. I got preg in Nov. 2005 but that ended in a m/c. Next step is injectibles. So to answer that part of your question for me it has been a lot harder after having had one successful pregnancy. I pray that you get preg right away again!!

It was actually easier for me.
We started ttc #2 after dd was 6mo. old. I took Gluc. and Clomid but it didn't work. We ended up moving to another state and because we were waiting on our ins. we couldn't afford for me to take the Clomid or Gluc.... or even my thyroid meds. But, 4 months after stopping all meds I got pg. with dd #2. Thank goodness we got ins. shortly after that. But, for me it was easier.

, but this cycle was just kinda to see what my body is doing. Thanks for your replies, and good luck to all!!

This is my first time on this website and I actually like it because there is some very useful information here. Well first off I am currently suffering with PCOS and I have been taking BCP but I stopped before I was suppose to because I got discouraged. Also I am suppose to be taking metformin. Well Ive been thinking bout getting back on track but Im also gonna start taking Clomid. So if theres anyone that can share a success story Please reply.

Both times it took IVF to get pg. I was not on any form of birth control for about 4 years after the birth of my son. No luck.
I did just give birth to my daughter from IVF#2!

Well, i lied. My temp thismorning dropped down and made my chart change
I was so happy too, thinking my body actually did something. But i guess its still early. I'm on cd14 today...As far as a pcos success story. I took metformin for 6 months, then took provera to start a cycle. That cycle i took clomid along with the metformin and got PG with my dd who just turned 1 on Saturday. So once i got started it was quite easy. I'm hoping this time will be too. GOOD LUCK!!! |

We ttc #1 for 3 1/2 yrs. On and off of Clomid most of that time. Towards the end, we finally went to Fertility clinic. I did an IUI with round of clomid (which helped me O as I didn't on my own and had irregular/non-existent cycles as well) and an HCG trigger. BFN....second round same thing...IUI with clomid and HCG trigger and BFP... my son is now 2!
No longer on bcp and trying for #2.
