New to this Process
Hi! We're in our 2nd month of TTC #1 with medications. Tried Femara, DR is switching to Clomid 100 mg for CD 3-7. Progesterone level was low so that's why he changed it. Does anyone have any warnings for the side effects of Clomid? I hear it's hormone hell! Also, any success with Clomid and Metformin for treating PCOS? I'd really love to hear it! Everyone says to relax, or be patient and it will happen. It's just hard to have faith that it will. Thanks so much!!!

Hi! Welcome! I tried clomid but it never really worked for me. Just made me meaner than all get out and the hot flashes were insane. Don't you just hate the standard "relax, it will happen phrase?" Drives me nuts! I went on metaformin and was successful with just that. A lot of the women on this board have done one or the other or both. I am sure you will get lots of responses back to help. I haven't been ttc in a while but the metaformin/glucophage have kept me regular for the last two years. I am pretty sure I am ovulating on it too. Hope to get to know you better and good luck!

It's really nice to know there are people out there who know exactly how this feels. I know we are new to this and early in this process but I'm already sick of "Just relax!" If only it were that easy. I was diagnosed with PCOS in the fall of 1999 and have been on birth control and Glucophage ever since. Last month on the Femara I had hot flashes and cramps with ovulation. That was a new experience, having never really ovulated on my own (if I did I wouldn't be doing this). So now we try Clomid. We'll see how this goes. Hot flashes in Louisiana in the summertime will be interesting. Thanks for the support!!!

I was dx with PCOS in early 2000 after years of crazy periods that lasted weeks or months without periods. I found out i had PCOS when we had ttc on our own for two and half years. It was very VERY frustrating. Especially when i dont think i ever ovulated on my own ever. I finally conceived on clomid, 150mg cd 3-7. At that time Metformin wasnt widely used for the treatment of PCOS. I had a hard time finding a dr that even had heard of that treatment. Finally we are ready to begin ttc (not that we ever stopped, dh and i have never used bc in the 7 years we have been married) actively and have now been on metformin for four months. My periods are coming 29 - 31 day cycles and are pretty normal. I am still not O-ing on my own however. So will be making an appointment to start on clomid again in the next month.
When i took clomid the last time i took it at bedtime so that i missed most of the nasty side effects. Id suggest a fan if you do that tho hehehe i did wake up a couple times burning up and shoving DH over to the edge of the bed away from me lol. It was soooo hot. The first month i took clomid i was on 100mg cd 3-7 and didnt o. The second month was it for us. We were very lucky i think ![]() Good luck and many +++ thoughts |

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been on Metformin since I was diagnosed in 1999. It never has straightened things out to where they happened on their own, but this month on the Femara AF showed up unexpectedly. It's nice to know that sometimes, things do work in there! Good luck with the Clomid. Also, what are the nasty side effects that you missed by taking it at night? With Femara I got hyperstimulated so I had to drink 1+gallons of Gatorade per day for about a week. Has anyone here had that with Clomid?

The second month i took it at night as opposed to in the morning the first time through. I didnt feel near as cranky during the day (i think, atleast dh didnt mention it as much =P) and probably slept through the hotflashes and such for the most part.
