A BUNCH OF QUESTIONS..long

Hi all...
I am taking 1500 mg of Metformin a day. I have lost 20 pounds since November (mostly because I couldn't keep any food down) from 157 to 137 (I am 5'-7"). I am 25 yrs old (dh is 35) and ttc #1. I was diag. with PCOS in October.

Some questions:
1. When I look at the bottle of Metformin pills there are a ton of warning labels. (Wear a medical id bracelet, no alcohol, etc). I'm not much of a drinker, but I do enjoy a glass of wine or mixed drink maybe once a week or every other week with a nice dinner. (I would not drink if I was pg) Is this ok?

2. Does anyone else have odd food aversions with this med? I absolutely can not think of eating chick fil a right now... not even a salad...

3. I developed a hyperstimulated ovary from clomid This was detected on "day 3" As of day 27 it had not shrunk enough to go on clomid again. I am on day 40, still no AF, no + pg test, and have started taking provera. When the ovary shrinks we'll do clomid and an IUI. Has anyone had success with this?

4. I have heard too much strenous exercise can prevent conception. Is this true?

5. Does anyone know the method (IUI, IVF, Clomid + natural, etc) with the highest percentage of conception rates?

6. Have any other of you PCOS-ers had any dealings with Cervical Dysplasia... if so how does it factor into getting pg?

Sorry this is so long...
Jennifer

Metformin is hard on the liver, so is drinking. One of the reasons that many folks on metformin have regular tests to check the function of the liver. I'd suggest asking your dr. if one glass a wine would cause a problem.

I'd think that is pretty normal. Regular Met made me absolutely ILL all the time. I was nauseated to the point of dreading even the thought of food and then when i did eat dreading the after effects. UGH! All i can say is <3 Metformin ER.

I have heard clomid causing wicked cysts due to pcos. I know a lot of ladies have had cycles canceled due to that very issue. I'm not sure how long it takes for the cysts to resolve, but i would imagine that you need to have an u/s to make sure that it has indeed resolved.

I have heard that doing anything that you are normally used to is OK. I personally would cut back on it after i ovulated. Not sure it would cause a problem or not to continue, but im sort of a worry wart.

As to the last two questions i dont really have anything informed to add. I didnt do IUI's or anything. Good ole bms and clomid worked for me on the second round.
