Please share your success stories!!1

Just started the clomid/glucophage combo this month, while using the fertility monitor to determine ovulation. I actually ovulated for the first time since last april!! I ovulated on days 21-22 this month! Am doing the obligatory 10 day wait. I can't stand it!! Has anyone out there been successful with this combo on their first cycle? Could use some encouragement. Thanks.

Hi Kelly...I don't have a pregnancy success story (yet), but I have a metgormin (glucophage) success story. :-)

I have PCOS/ insulin resistance, was diagnosed with the PCOS 16 years ago when I was 18 and was diagnosed with the insulin resistance last year. My dr started me on metformin back in October and for the first time in over 10 years I get AF on my own without taking provera or birth control pills. This is very encouraging to me and even though most normal women hate to see AF come, I was thrilled with it because to me it was a sign that things might be starting to work right. So now we have added the clomid. I took one cycle in December which didn't work, but I'm not discouraged at all. Since my body hasn't done what it's supposed to do in over 10 years, I'm not looking for immediate results. But I just finished my second round of clomid (100mg) 2 and a half weeks ago and yesterday morning I got a positive for the LH surge on the ovulation test, so I'm hoping this weekend is the one that works!

I wish you all the best and keep me posted on how things are going with you. Just remember that if the first cycle doesn't do the trick, don't give up. Sometimes our bodies just need a little extra prodding. Take care of you!

I have a great success story for you. I was dx with PCOS and a bicornuate uterus in 1999....now I have 3 children. My oldest is 4 and I have almost 3 yr old b/g twins.

All I have to say is be careful with the metformin/clomid combination because it can make your chances of having multiples a real one. If its what you want, good...if not, well be warned because I got pg with TRIPLETS the first month on clomid/met combination...ended up losing one during the pg and ended up with a very high risk pg (I had to have u/s every 2 weeks to check on the twins...and I had an emergency c-section at 34 weeks because I went into labor...they were going to do a scheduled c-section a few days later because Alexa was failing to thrive as well as she should have...NOW 3 years later she is taller than her brother!)

That's a fantastic story! (although a little scary too). I have realized that chances of a mult preg are increased with clomid, but I will happily take whatever God sees fit to give me! That's amazing that it happened during your first cylcle. I'm still in the 2ww and will test this weekend. I am curious about your sypmoms of pregancy, if you wouldn't mind sharing them. My opk confirmed that I ovulated on days 21-22 this cycle, and I FELT IT! My left ovary area crampy. No spotting. Then at about 9dpo I began having breast tenderness that is still present. 12dpo felt sharp achy sensation in left ovary area (not like AF cramps). Will do hpt at either day 13 or 14dpo to see. Technically I' m now a day late!! Does any of this sound familiar? I hear that the clomid can cause crampy feelings around this time even if your not pregnant. Any input will be appreciated. Good luck and God bless.

Well, just so you know, without met I would go from 35-50 day cycles...when I got pg with the triplets...I felt 'off' very early on. I had been pg before so I knew what it was like...I did a hpt on cd 27 and it came up ++ before the pee went all the way across the board (like 15 seconds or something). I had the breast tenderness...but the met and clomid combination makes that happen even when you aren't pg. I should know...last month there was NO WAY I could remotely be pg (unless I wanted to join the ranks of the Virgin Mary! LOL since dh and I were both sick with the cold the whole month...him the first 2 weeks...me the last 2...so sex went out the window...with 3 yound kids sex isn't first on the list anyhow...ok, ok...TMI!!)

If you are 'technically' a day late, I'd do a hpt...BUT I've had several neg hpts and turned out pg anyhow...with my eldest, I got neg hpts on cd 35, 36 and 37....and on cd 42 it was +++ so don't get discouraged just yet....at least not until the AF lady sings. harharhar.

After 5 years of trying, I am now the mom of a beautiful 5 month old little boy!!! I was diagnosed about 6 years ago, and tried everything from clomid and insiminations to herbs and accupuncture. My recipe for success was as follows:

birth control pills ( Yasmin) for 6 months
Avandia (10 mg/day) starting the first day of the last pack of BCP's

This was strictly my combination. My OB is a doctor at the same hospital I work at, so he would write perscriptions for whatever I wanted to try ( as long as it was safe). We had no money or insurance coverage for IVF, so I got a little creative, and it worked!!! Good luck to everyone trying!!!!

Question

This question is for marie josie.
Did the dr ever give you an explanation as to why you didn't test + until day 42? Late implantation, late ovulation? Did you use a opk, so you would know when you actually ovulated, so you could time it? I'm confused as to why you didn't test + until then. (just got bfn on day 32). Thanks for listening.

Kelly

The only explanation I got from the doc is that I am one of those women who's hormones don't show up well in urine. It is a well documented fact too...that is why they always state in the HPT directions that if you get a negative and still don't have AF after a week to test again and/or go see a physician.

Oh..by the way, I also required to be put on progesterone so I would have a m/c. I have a history of losing pgs very early on. In fact, I've been pg several times....most pg ended in early mc...except for those that happened while I was taking hormones to help reduce m/c's.

Hope I helped. Don't get discouraged quite yet...it ain't over until the AF lady sings!!
