Ok...here is what happened with me...clomid didn't work on its own!! The ONLY way I was able to get pg was to get my insulin under control (ie. get the PCOS under control). I didn't know it at the time, but when I got pg with my oldest dd Catherine, I didn't take an met...BUT I had been exercising and losing weight using the Somersizing program...a LOT like South Beach by the way. I had lost 25 lbs...and got pg along the way (UNEXPECTED Too!!)

With the twins, I got pg with met and clomid combined..although it wasn't the original intention...LONG story...too long to tell.

Good luck

I struggled with PCOS for 5 years before I found what worked for me. We tried everything from Clomid, IUI's, herbs, Glucophage, etc... Nothing worked, so I came up with my own plan and fortunately, I have an OB who is willing to let me do my own thing. I took birth control pills ( Yasmin) for about 6 months. At the start of the 6th month, I added Avandia 10 mg per day for that month. That is where the science stops. I intended to take the Avandia longer, but didn't get around to getting it re-filled, and believe it or not, I ovulated for the first time in I don't know how long and got pregnant. The funny thing is, I had a textbook cycle- Ovulated on day 14. My little Ethan came last August. I had taken Avandia before, and it truely is the only medication that made me feel better. I'm pretty atypical- 5'5 and 118 pounds- never have a period on my own. I hope this helps.
