Smile Hello

What a great board! I have a 16 year old son. I would love any advice on parenting a teen. This has got the be the hardest thing ever! I just THOUGHT the terrible twos were bad.

Pam, my darling boy was a piece of cake at 2, there are days that I wish we could go back to diappers and Mommy is a Goddess. If I have to deal with his crap, the kind I can clean and dispose of is preferable.

hi pam....we would love some good advice too!! who ever told you we knew what we were doing lied!!!!

hard doesn't even scratch the surface. i'm a pretty together person but i have been near tears at times out of utter frustrations. and overrall our kids are good kids.

i iwll say this tho....i can see why some ppl just let their kids do whatever....it's much easier. the constant battles with a teenager and the energy it takes to go over the same things again and again is just exhausting! sometimes i just want to let something go then to follow through with it. but alas, i know my efforts and diligence will pay off in the long run so i muster up the energy to keep going.

if you scan through the board you'll see we've done a lot of venting here LOL.

I thought it was just mine!!! I have a 16 soon to be 17 in November DSS. Have raised him since he was 6. Sometimes, my gut tells me what I am doing is not enough. Somtimes, my heart tells me I am doing the best that I can and not every child at every stange is a joy. We had a pretty tough summer, but I think our talk did us some good. Hopefully this will be a great school year for both of us. OMG, junior prom already!!

Whoever said parenting is easy was way wrong! I am really trying hard to just go day by day. Jordan is also a junior in high school and I just think in 2 very short years he'll be going away to college and even though 2 yrs seems like a long way away. He is so independent already some days I feel like I have already lost him. I am just so glad that Jordan has a good head on his shoulders and we have such a open line of communication that I am sure things will be ok.

Ditto on the prom thing, Jordan just told me today that he already knows who he is going to prom with and it is a SENIOR girl!! Yikes! Now that really worries me!

Thanks for listening.

Wow a Senior!!! DSS is the first class in this school it just opened when he was a freshman, so there is no senior class, won't have to worry about that. I am still worried about the whole it's over in 2 years. I think I get more panic-y than he does!!
