is this a sign of things to come?

is this a sign that lara is on the road to getting her period soon? she just turned 11 in july.

all of a sudden this morning out of the blue she just starting crying hysterically during breakfast..

she didn't know why she was crying.

she has pictures today and she told me her hair is not good. her clothes are not good. she is very short and is the shortest girl in all of 6th grade (which is almost true) and she is fat.

or is it just monday and she is tired?

my dd was very much like that for quite some time before she got her AF. she also gets very emotional when she gets AF. i can tell instantaneously when she has it or it's approaching. it's weird to me, i was never like that. i just turn into a raving b!tch.

my dd was 11 when she got AF for the first time. one week after her 11th b-day actually.

the ROT is that first AF shows approx 2 years after the onset of puberty.

lara looks very cute for her pics!!

that was not what she wore to school. she is not allowed to wear tank tops to school. she wore a white top and a black skirt.

just wanted to show you a picture of my sweet potato. that was her first day of school pic.

of course my mom being the positive person she is (not)(MAYBE THIS IS WHY I GREW UP WITH NO SELF CONFIDENCE) says oh she is unhappy you need to take her to counseling. like when i was pre-pmsing, wearing braces, a back brace for scoliosis and glasses - my mom's response you need counseling. took me to a counselor and we never talked we would play checkers. gimme a break mom.........not everything and everyone needs counseling for being sad.

this sounds like a little bit "typical" for this age (girls especially become very self concious) and a little bit hormonal. this is a tough stage. hang in there.....

She certainly could be approaching AF. I posted on general parenting board one time a few years ago that Courtney had started and I was shocked as she was just 9. Well, she HAD started, and yet she hadn't. Several times over the last two years, she'd bleed just a tiny bit, and only for 1 day. It also wasn't every single month. She'd skip two or three months, then have the one day bleeding thing. Just since the beginning of summer has she started regular periods. NOW she knows what it's really like! LOL She does get VERY emotional when it's approaching and/or here. She'll cry over everything! Has Lara had any changes in her skin? Has she had any acne or oily looking skin? Courtney started getting acne about 6 months before she started that spotting stuff. My oldest dd was a late bloomer and didn't get her period until she was (or real close to anyway) 16. The hormones raging in these girls makes it quite hard to deal with them, but alas, it's all normal! Good luck!

Also, tell her I said that she has BEAUTIFUL hair, so not to complain about that one!

Those hormones start mixing around and all that emotional stuff start showing itself. DD has been doing the "I'm so ugly, nobody likes me, everything is awful in the world.... stuff for a few years. Still no period here though - I think she doesn't have enough fat on her for it to happen. She eats well, just naturally skinny. If Lara is heavier, she may start earlier. Even if she isn't starting AF, the emotional roller coaster is still there and it isn't a fun ride.

This is true! My oldest dd is FINALLY up to 102.3 and is 5'7. The only reason she's finally up that high is because it's muscle mass. Her dad owns a gym, which she works at 5 days a week, and works out every day while there. She also has been training in judo for 6 years. I don't remember for sure, but she was within a month of her 16th birthday one way or another before she started. The Dr. told us that it was normal for very skinny people to start later.
