XPOST- Does anyone know about Astrocytoma?

My dear friend's 3 1/2 yr old nephew was just diagnosed with having an Astrocytoma. The doctors aren't giving him much hope and are not telling the parents any positive information. I would appreciate if any of you with ANY knowlege or experience would give me any information that I may pass along to my friend. He is in one of the best hospitals in the country and actually hadn't exhibited any problems except for a recurring headache- which finally led to the ct scan and diagnosis. Please share any info you have- I am eager to pass along anything that may offer her some hope and to be able to pass that hope onto her sister who is absolutely devastated.
Thank you in advance!

I'm so sorry about the news your friend received about his nephew. I do not have experience with Astrocytoma. I did find the following sites/links:

http://www.mayoclinic.org/glioma/astrocytomas.html

http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/de...ge=5296#astro1

I did a google search for child astrocytoma survival rate, juvenile astrocytoma, and astrocytoma. It looks like there are different levels of astrocytoma. If you can, get more information from your friend on the diagnosis (i.e. location, level, etc). Sending your friend's nephew my thoughts and prayers.

I have no information but I did want to send a "hug: I hope that things are better than they think that it is looking for the little one.

Our little miracle:

Each day as I watch you struggle I am reminded to find joy in the little things, to stop and smell the flowers, and that some things are more important than material things. Your smile melts my heart, and takes the chronic pain away, if only for a fleeting moment. Thank you for the joy that you bring, my son.
