My whine:
It's appointment time for Maddy. Over the next several weeks, we have the ENT (and then an unnecessary hearing test
and possibly another surgery ~ *sigh*), the opthamologist, a flu shot and her annual checkup, and then her cardiology appointment, where we have to break in a brand new doctor.
I suspect that we also need to schedule another pH probe for reflux, and I know she needs her teeth cleaned...hoping that we can schedule that concurrently if she needs ear tubes again. :banghead This is my favorite time of the year (Halloween, Maddy's b-day, our anniversary, and Christmas! In two months! lol) but having all the annual checkups at once is a big ol' pain in the butt.

Hee Hee

Waiting for this one
My whine for the Wednesday is......
I hate how other people "think" they can tell us how we feel and that it's their way or the highway!!! I don't like the following quotes (amongst others)....All things happen for a reason....only special people are picked to be parents of Sn children!!!! What about the drug addict that gives birth to the heroin addicted baby or the alcoholic mother who causes her baby to have alcohol fetal syndrome etc etc...I'm not trying to be judgemental to those people...just wondering if they are deemed "special" by those in the know!!
I really don't like that people think they know what life for us is about....I would never presume to know even what life is like between fellow SN parents....we are all different and we all do things differently with different beliefs. And our children even have different needs...geez don't all children!!!
OK....guess I could go on and on and I probably will later
Just not happy with some of the responses on a certain "thread" in the past few days. All I can say is "How dare they presume they have all the answers to our children's and our lives!!!!"
Mmmmm feel better now....hugs to all
K

Okay...here goes...
My ds will be going in for serial casting. We just don't have a date yet. He had an appointment with the pediatric orthopedist on the 20th, and he reccommended tendon transfer sugery with heel cord lengthening and then casting. After talking with ds's physical therapist he says we have nothing to lose by trying the least invasive thing first (serial casting). This might work for now and possibly delay surgery for at least a little while. He will be in the cast for 1-3 months depending on how he responds.
The bad news is the surgery is something we are definetly facing in the semi near future. Our hope is that the casting will postpone it for at least a year.
:
He (ds) does not want any of it...but understands that something has to be done. It means that swimming and basketball are out, as well as participating in P.E, and playing football at recess with his friends.....all things he loves.

All right, I'll take a turn

Lately, the only voice that Griffin hears is my loud, angry voice. I hate it, but it's the only one he responds to.
He had a substitute teacher yesterday that told me he was good all day long but that Ms. F gave him 2 sad faces during art. She didn't know what he did, but he had a good day for her. In the van on the way home, Gavin (7yo that I babysit) tells me that Griffin had to sit at the quiet table at lunch. He didn't know why, and G has never been over there before, so he must have done something pretty bad to have to go there. Is it too much for me to be told about these things so that I can reinforce it at home?
Karen
Kimmie, I sure hope all the appts go smoothly, and you can break in that heart doc w/out too much trouble.
Sarah, I wish your guy didn't have to go through all that with the casting. I hope the time in casts goes quickly for y'all.Dina

My gripe is that my former collegues assume that I am using my daughter's disability (DS will soon test out of services but according to the developmentalist is high risk for LD, ADHD,etc.) as an excuse to be a SAHM. This staying-at-home thing is hard. Besides shuttling the kids to appointments (many of which are seven hours away) and doing the other SAHM stuff, I do intensive therapy with Ehlin throughout the day. Going to work was easier and the money is certainly missed. Hats off to all you ladies who have done this longer than me!

Im happy to see this bb moving. I will definately post here more often.
My whine today is that IM very tired. Jasen has been having trouble going to sleep at night which then pushes back Jenna's bedtime. And, he is waking at night too. we go thru this now and then and I am drained. They have to be at school at 8:15 am (5 days a week for Jasen) and its exhausting.Bubba J

I really don't have a whine as it is bigger than that. I promise to post tommorrow when I am awake. For those who can't stand the wait....Rylina was dx with PDD-NOS.
WE both had a really long day. I guess I could also whine about getting ripped off from an FT BC but I will control myself! What goes around comes around...Colleen
