Should Dave Cont. To Screen New Users??

Hey everyone!!

Dave wants to get member input on this and asked that we put up polls to get votes/comments/opinions.

As of now those that want to join FT fill out an online form. Dave reviews it and decides whether or not to give them access. It takes a lot of his time but it has cut down on spammers and those that are trying to get into FT to post things for sale, links to their websites or think this is a dating site of some sort.

Dave would like your opinion on whether he should continue to screen new users or stop and allow everyone access.

Thanks for voting/commenting on this!

I'm kind of new here so I don't know, but was there a big problem with spam before? Or just a few annoyances every now and then?

If it wasn't a huge problem before then I wouldn't worry about screening them.

Welcome Ashlee!!
I think there were problems with spammers in the past. Also, Some people come here thinking it is a dating site or a place to sell stuff. I think Dave tries to keep those people out since this really isn't a place for either of those things. Thank you for voting

This is for the entire site right? Not just the parenting board?
I voted yes unless the bc's can keep track of every post and quickly get rid of any unwanted posts it can get bad.
Starting on the IF boards - with all the media hype and opinions after octomom, ect. I can imagine some bad things going on. Same for adoption, etc.
RE: Spam - same thing on any site, people can easily think it's promoted by here.
So again - unless the bc's think they can quickly delete/block, he should continue to screen. If the bc's think they can keep up then there is no need.

Just my thoughts.
Tricia

Hey Tricia!! Yes.. it if for the entire site. I think the main reason he is doing the screening up front is because if there is something on the online form they fill out that doesn't seem right he can just not let them through to the site... where as if it were up to the BC's to just happen to catch a bad post Dave would then have to be notified and he would have to look at everything and take action (banning them or whatever was necessary). All this info is being passed along to Dave... we will see what his final decision is

On another note. It is good to 'see' you around. Have you been away for a while? It may be that we just don't post on the same boards anymore. Your LO's are just as precious as ever!!

Hi!
I check over here for any new posts and post on the multiples board alot. Not as much lately since I went back to work last month. Try to pop over to the PCOS and over 35 boards sometimes but my time is so limited now.
Your LO's look like they are getting big

I know they are, everything is going so fast. I almost feel like I can't call them 'babies' anymore. Even though they will always be 'my babies'..
