How Long was your NICU STAY?

Just curious to hear from the moms how long their babies were in the NICU.

I know each baby is different. I have a 25weeker who's now 35 weeks actual, 10 weeks adjusted. (did I say that right?)

************
What week delivered?

How long were they in NICU?

Did they come home with any equipment?

I had my ds at 27 weeks 6 days and he was in teh NICU for about 8 weeks (coming home about 3.5 weeks before his due date.

He was really big for his gestational age (3lbs 2oz) so that may have played a role in his earlyl release.

Bedst of luck to you.

Patti

Wyatt was born 6/09/07 at 3 lbs 2 oz at 31w4d.

He was released from the NICU on 07/06.

He was sent home with an apnea monitor, but we rarely used it because he never had episodes (even in the NICU) and the monitor woke him with false alarms all the time.

The boys were born at 28 1/2 weeks. Luke was in the NICU for 10 1/5 weeks and Ryan came home just short of 12 weeks. It was a long haul but so worth it!

Nope. Didn't say it right.

You aren't at your due date yet, so he is still sort of in the negative. He is 10 weeks old, adjusted age of 35 weeks gestationally.

You start "adjusting" based off of due date. So when he is 15 weeks old (due date), he will be in the "positive" for adjustment. Think of it this way....you subtract the number of weeks early from his chronological age.

So he was 15 weeks early.....he is actually 10 weeks old, so he is -5 weeks adjusted.

Now that you are completely confused.....

Party line answer is that preemies go home around their due date. The earlier the baby, the greater chance that this is true. Usually 28-32 weekers will go home before due date, barring complications. But a 25 weeker will be pretty close to due date.

My kids were 23w1d, or 17 weeks early. Caeden came home 5 days after her due date. Nicholas came home a month later.

Frankie was 35 weeks gestation but measured 29wks at birth due to IUGR. He stayed almost two months due to *wet* lungs and the infection that followed.

No equipment brought home. Good luck, girlpooh

What week delivered? We deilvered at 24w3d. Triplets

How long were they in NICU? 2 were in for 4 months, and one was 5 months. They were due on Dec 8, born Aug 21 and none were home by their due date.

Did they come home with any equipment? All 3 came home with monitors (HATED THEM), my son came home on oxygen for a few months, and one daughter had a feeding tube for a few months.

Good luck
Suzan
