any updates or news from anyone?

Lots of kids started school recently, I know. How is the transition into fall going for everyone?

We've had a hectic last couple of weeks. My mom had surgery to remove a kidney tumor/cyst on August 20th. We had been really worried it was cancer, but thank God it was benign. She is recovering nicely. The week after that I moved a large kidney stone which got stuck. This involved five days in two different hospitals and two different procedures to finally get rid of the dang thing! Good news is that my entire right kidney is now stone free! They blasted everything in there! During this same time Lindsay had another one of her bad stomache aches. We've been doctoring with this all summer and think it might be her gallbladder. I need to get her back in for some more tests...we had to cancel her appointments when I was in the hospital. So....fun huh?

This took us right up to Labor Day and the first day of school, which I think we all kind of walked thru in our sleep....we had so much going on and so much to catch up on. Anyway...Lindsay is doing great in school. Glad to be back, busy with friends and is head of the senior class float for the homecoming parade. She's also got a ton of homework every night and pep band starts this week.

Yep, busy start to the school year. DD is in 8th grade and loves it...not liking the team of teachers as much as 7th though. She keeps saying she misses 7th grade so much! She has had quite a bit of homework but nothing too overwhelming.

Yesterday we went to the "Kick Off Cook Out" for our church youth and I could hardly believe it when I went back outside to hear that Erin had volunteered to be one of two "mid high" youth reps. Apparently you had to stand and talk about yourself and why you would do a good job...I am just in shock because she still is so much on the quiet side and does not like talking in front of people. But she was chosen and I think it is just wonderful! She gets to help plan events for the youth through the church.

Erin is still doing Latin Dance this year and has added an adult class in addition to her Teen class. She chose to not try out for cheerleading this year because she wants to concentrate on her dancing! That was fine with us and I am glad she chose dance!

DH and I are both busy in our classrooms....DH is still at the High School and I work with the little 2-3 year olds. Big difference but both of us are dealing with alot of stress there.

We had a great Labor Day party here at our house...I was so irritated because so many people didn't RSVP so I ran out of plates and pop...had to send DH out to get both...But all in all had a great time!

That's about it here!

Jeez Shelli - hugs, ouch, hooray and congrats...I guess

Laney started preschool last week and adjusted very well. I often joke that we're both so sick of each other! We usually do gymnastics as well, but since it free with a friend...we usually wait until October and sneak into the least crowded class.

General life is nuttier than nutty. We are doing an addition on the house that was supposed to be completed in July. Hello? I feel like there's another month left - grrrr

And here I go...signing up for Class Mom. It's a bunch of organizational tasks so it's right up my alley.

Lastly...turning the big 4-0 next week. My sister started a 40 days till 40 celebration on Aug. 11 so it's been fun. I've never had so many nice gestures done for me so it's been pretty special. I have a running list in my blog if you wanted to peek...

I also must say that I love the range of ages here. My little one started her first day of her first year and it sounds like Shelli's started her first day of her last year. MAN OH MAN...I may have the age on you guys, but I'm going to be looking to you for the experience!

We've been busy getting settled in our new house. Ds started 9th grade and is struggling with not knowing anyone. He seems to like his classes, hopefully he will find some kids that he clicks with. I posted awhile ago that I hoped he met some nice, over achievers, right now almost anything above juvenile delinquent will do. The school had their club fair today and we tried to encourage him to join snowboarding (which was the club of his choice) and something else. He did sign up for snowboarding but that was it. He was funny describing the representatives of each club as "like the door to door salesmen", "hi would you like to...." and not taking no for an answer. It seems as if there are hundreds of clubs I wish he had chosen a 2nd.

Now that I've got him off to school, I need to figure out how I will get a life.

Aidan began preschool at the place where I was worried b/c he'd be the oldest and so far so good. He is improving daily at separating from me. Today he whined for 2 minutes then was fine for the rest of the day. And, he has never had a play date w/out me. Today he went to a neighbor's house to play w/ her son for 30 minutes and did not cry for me, was even a bit cross that I came to get him! So I think school has given him a bit of confidence that he did not have prior! I am back to work teaching Kgn and am exhausted. My class is huge and never stops talking. They are a loud little bunch!

Preschool started back last week, ds goes 3 am days a week now and probably 5 am's in the New Year. I can't believe this is his last year before "big school", not sure I can let him get much older, it's starting to freak me out!LOL
Good to hear updates from everyone.

DD just started first grade, she is loving it.

Last Friday she was surgery for a hernia, she is doing great but the first 12 hours were painful. I felt so bad for her and while I was carrying her to her room she says to me "Mommy, you take great care of me" and I said "Oh I wish I could take the pain completely away from you" and she says "But mom, you are doing the best you can" I hugged her tightly with my heart melting.

Shelli! Hope things improve soon!

Caro....can imagine how scary the surgery was for you and DD!

Well we have gotten DD off to Kindergarten and so far so good. Had a little bit of a rocky week last week.....apparently DD decided she would take the time to test some waters to see what she could get away with!

She refused to do work in her Language Arts book, Religion book, Math book and then on Friday...she just wasn't into Mass! Anyway I am in the middle of working on her protests! She will be fine though....Mommy however needs to tone it down a bit! I was freaking!

Other than that she is doing GREAT! She is making friends really well and wants to go to school everyday. I am just trying to get back into the routine!
