What is your favorite thing about having an only child?

I think my favorite thing about having only one is that I am able to focus my all on that one child! I never feel I am spreading myself too thin. I don't get frustrated by being overscheduled...I can devote my time to my child with worrying about short changing another.

I feel basically the same way as you. My son gets things that if I had more than one we would not be able to afford. He gets to go to camp the whole summer and that is something he just loves!!!!

I like planning the summer without worrying quite so much about cost -- there's no worry about whose summer costs more or whether things are fair. Whatever we can afford for him is fine.

I love having the time and the resources to spend with him. But right now, today, my favourite thing was being able to make him breakfast, put the tv on and then go back to bed for half an hour with my book and a slice of toast! I can't see that happening if I had a baby in the house.

I don't post here because I have more then 1 child but I am an only child, can I tell you what I love about it???

I love that my parents were able to take me places

I love that when they focused on me, it was about me

I love that I was always comfortable in an adult oriented world

I love that I don't have to share my parents on holidays!! (thats selfish I know)

I love that I always had my own space

I love that they always experience their parenting firsts with me "walking, talking, driving, marriage, grandkids, etc." I love that I get to bring them this joy.

and yes, I love that I didn't have to share!!! LOL

The lack of brothers or sisters never bothered me and it did not make me a spoiled kid. As a matter of fact, I was always told how polite I was, how responsible I was and how mature I was for my age. Sometimes, I feel bad for my own kids that they never got to experience the complete undivided attention that I got as a child and honestly, as an adult as well. (I started out with twins, so really, no one has ever gotten just my attention!)

I just thought I would tell you from the kid side, the great things about being an only child. I hope my post wasn't offensive to anyone.
