I'm going to participate in my mult-club's clothing & equipment sale this Spring. I'm anxious to do well at the sale, but am a little clueless about reasonable pricing.
I understand with baby gear, asking 30% of purchase price is reasonable. Do you concur?
When I purchased at the Fall sale, I bought several outfits for the girls for $3-5 each, with a few items at $10. I will try to use that same pricing for the items I have to sell. (Onesies & socks will be bundled in sets of 3 or more.) Am I on track?
So here is my final question... I am going to sell my maternity clothing too. (sob!) What are reasonable price ranges for items in excellent condition with brand names including Pea in the Pod, Mimi Maternity and Motherhood?
Thanks in advance!

I would probably price big items more like 50% off the original price unless it was barely used and in excellent condition.
As far as clothing, I guess it depends on what it is and brand. The Gymbo, Gap stuff is going to go for a higher price than the Carters, Old Navy, Circo, Sonoma kind of stuff.
I would definitely package onesies, socks, etc. in ziplock bags together. Toys were big sellers at our sale last fall.
I guess I would price it for what you would pay for that item and if you think it will sell. If you price stuff too high, you may come home with it...so you have to decide if that is what you want. The sizes you will be selling are going to be in abundance so you are competeing against a lot of other sellers.
As far as maternity clothes go, I would say, if it is good condition with no stains or anything, casual tops and pants maybe $5, more business like stuff maybe a little more. Unfortunately, you are not going to have a ton of people looking for maternity stuff.
Good luck and let us know how you do. Our sale isn't until April, so I have some time to get my stuff together.

I agree with Janet - 50% of purchase price for furniture and large items. I sold both my cribs, my Maclaren stroller, crib bedding sets, etc. all for about 1/2 what I paid. Same goes for things like bouncy seats and exersaucers.
You may also be able to take a peek at everyone else's prices on similar items before putting the price on yours. Remember too, that you can always change your prices if they seem out of line with the others.
I think you're on-track with the baby's clothing prices, but I can't offer any advice on your maternity clothes. I've always tried pricing my clothes somewhere between garage sale and resale shop prices and they've sold pretty well.
One thing I've done to attract buyers was to put out a basket with a big "free" sign on it. I toss in little toys (like happy meal toys or small rattles and balls) and single pairs of socks or onesies. Shoppers rummage through there, then look at the rest of the stuff...
Good luck!

Ditto on Janet's pricing. i took a bunch of my nice maternity wear at attractive prices (like $7-10 for Pea in the Pod stuff) and almost none of it sold since the sales are usually populated by folks looking for kid stuff.

I think your in the ballpark. If you large items are in excellent shape you can probably price it a tad higher and it will probably sell. My maternity wear did not sell well either. I didn't have the big brands and my stuff is all four years old and also was not very trendy, so to speak. I haven't sold many large items yet but am planning to this fall. I never make a whole lot on my clothes. (I've sold twice so far). But it is a fairly easy way to sell it (I don't do personal garage sales) and at least I get something for it! Good Luck. If it is a nice/like new name brand, people will pay a little more.

Thanks ladies! I might look into another outlet for selling my maternity clothes if this isn't the best venue.

You might try posting your maternity clothes on the FT Live Auction board.....it always seems like there is someone looking for maternity stuff.

I think nice maternity clothes do well on EBay too. I bought all mine there! LOL
Not sure the maternity clothes do well on our LA board. the one or two auctions that I looked at didn't move that well, but it might have just been the ones I looked at.Warrior Princess D, Astro Slayer
