Lbwp- my DH's salary is above the income limit for the 5 person family and we still qualified, but again I think we automatically qualified due to HOM pg. You can probably go to your state's WIC website and read the criteria and income levels.

Lbwp~WIC is to help Women, infants, and children woth products such as cheese, milk, peanut butter, juice, eggs, and formula. It is not a welfare program, at least in WV it is not anyway, and as long as your monthly income is UNDER the cutoff you are eledigable(SP?) or if you receive foodstamps, medical card, or get a welfare check you are automatically elidgable(SP?). Like I said before we are but we just do not use enough of that stuff to really warrant it. I B/F the twins or I would have been all over getting it!

It is 150% above poverty line. So, you don't have to be poor to qualify. Even as Dh is an engineer, we either qualified or almost.

Ditto... It gives children what they need. Of course, like any program, abuse can happen. But the vast majority that use it, need it.

If it wasnt for WIC right now we wouldnt be making it. We are a young couple that decided we had the income for an *AN* addition. We were blessed with more than one, but it killed us financially. I cant afford to work because of daycare costs and DH doesnt make enough, sadly, to pay for our rent (2 bed, 2 bath) and the bills. With WIC we are able to scrape by. My babies are on Nutramigen and that is outrageously priced, but WIC supplies it. They dont provide baby food and I dont think we are able to get it past 1yr (could be wrong there) but the help for the formula has been absolutely amazing. It is embarrassing to be in the office admitting we cant make it without help from them, but for my kids I will do what it takes to feed them.

    WIC is a wonderful program.

Tammie...as long as you qualify financially, WIC is for families for children up to age 5. (At least, that's how it was for us years ago.)

They don't give 'baby food' as far as jars go...but they will supply milk, juice, healthy cereal, cheese, and I believe we used to get peanut butter or dried beans.

With our triplets we did not qualify after they turned 1 yr. But we got the formula for the whole 1st yr and from 6-12 mos we also got Gerber juice (4 oz bottles) and Gerber infant cereals. Such a HUGE help!
