How old is your son? What are his challenges? Has he ever received services before from the school district or early intervention? What made you look for a diagnosis?

Aspergers is the highest functioning form of autism. Generally, kids don't have a language delay but, have other ASD challenges. They are generally very bright but, with limited interests.

    Give us more info! ;-)

    Hi Deanne,

One of the best things I did was get in touch with other parents in my area. Do you know if there is a support group? Do you know any other parents at the school who could give you information? Let us know how we can help.

My 7 yr old has Asperger's. She was diagnosed when she was 4.

Tell us more about your ds. What are your questions? Concerns? His strengths? His challenges?

Check out the links at the top of the page, under the stickies. Lots of good info.

Aspergers is very similar to NLD - nonverbal learning disorder, which my son has. Check out http://www.nldline.com/, scroll down the left hand side and look for Aspergers vs NLD - GREAT links in there.

Each day as I watch you struggle I am reminded to find joy in the little things, to stop and smell the flowers, and that some things are more important than material things. Your smile melts my heart, and takes the chronic pain away, if only for a fleeting moment. Thank you for the joy that you bring, my son.
