We are noticing this cyclic pattern of Jake's behavior going down the toilet on Thursdays and Fridays, often extending into Sat. I work every Wed night (until July) and I have for years. Well, Jake REALLY liked having me home while I was off on "maternity" leave. The first day I went back he saw me in my scrubs with my pagers and id badge and hit me
I think that was Jake's way of saying "Mom! NOOOO! I don't want you to go back to work!!" but he couldn't come up with that as fast as hitting. Anyway, on Wednesdays he is in school all morning. Then, naps all afternoon. If he is up when I leave at 4pm he cries and keeps hugging me. So, I try to sneak out while he is still sleeping (my mom is there-I'm not leaving him home alone or anything
) Well, since I've gone back he falls to PIECES on Thursdays with HORRID behavior. Not listening, not following directions, doing ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get in trouble. I guess he just wants more of my attention. I know that but on Thursdays I'm such a TIRED wreck from being up all night that it is all I can do to get through the day. So, this extends into Friday and often Sat. Here's the wierdest part....we've figured out that when he is in this funk, if he goes out to play with a big group of kids--like the big picnic we had at his friend's house last weekend, or our cul-de-sac Easter egg hunt this evening--it snaps him right out of it. He just LOVES to play with all the kids. LOVES IT!!! He loves joining us in the play too and it just breaks him right out of his behavior issues! He was awful all day today and then we went outside for the hunt and now he is the most charming kid, following all directions, awesome eye contact, talking great, etc. Before that it was SO BAD!
I'm so happy that I resigned! At this point, Jake validates for me every Thursday why I made that decision!

Interesting...
Chase also has really difficult Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun. I know Sat/Sun are due to very little structure and having Natalie to contend with all day. But, I never have been able to figure out Thurs/Fri's.

Its great that you know how to get him out of this mood. I'm so happy spring is here and its nice to be outside. I'm finding that JJ is a better mood after being outside playing too. I LOVE IT!
