    Bi-Racial Twins

anyone a mom of bi-racial twins? I have beautiful fraternal twin girls that absolutely couldnt look more like night and day.. Celina looks like dad with a dark complexion and dark hair and eyes and Olivia is identical to me with blonde hair and blue eyes.. Nobody believes that theyre twins!!! I have read that this is really rare and am wondering if there are any other mommies out there dealing with the same!!

Here is an article about a family like yours: Mixed-race couple Dean Durrant and Alison Spooner celebrate after having a second set of black and white twins | The Sun |News

I don't know anyone with twins like yours, but I know several bi-racial families--including my sister-in-law's-- whose children are different shades of beautiful.

That is pretty neat, dont worry about what people say or think. You have a couple of gems and next year when they are speaking their twin language and best buds people wont question as much. Congrats on your beautiful girls.

I also saw the show about the IR couple who had two sets of twins with a light/dark combination, it really make you wonder how things work out in there.

this is unrelated, sort of. I did see a show a while back where there was a same sex female (AA ladies both) couple and they did IUI, well two IUI in the same cycle. But afterwards it was found that one of the semen samples was a mix up and so the first one was a white guy and the second one was an AA guy. They ended up with two girls, one very light, they called her vanilla, and one average dark, who was called chocolate. It was pretty funny especially that they were same sex and the mother of one of moms was just shaking her head, trying to understand it all. cute story

My twins look very different as well, daughter strawberry blonde with blue eyes and son olive skin brown eyes and dark hair. People are stupid. I just hate that they feel at liberty to make comments like that

Hey BC, I remember your posts from your pregnancy. How is it going. If I remember correctly you were solo with your twins while your husband was away?

As far as all of your kids they are beautiful! Regardless of what people say they are yours to be proud of. God bless you all!

My household is bi racial. I am white and my DH black. We currently are TTC. I don't care what our kids look like as long as they come out healthy.

I'm late to this discussion, but am going to post for anyone who may come along and read this thread. I have White/Asian bi-racial twins. One had darker skin than the other at birth. The difference tends to fade over the winter, and will become more pronounced again during the summer.

Here is the little "secret" to hold in your heart when people say things that may upset you. Sometimes it really helps if you can think to yourself, well, that's what you think, but I know that there is something good about this that you aren't seeing. The bi-racial combination of skin tones and features tends to soften the extremes that sometimes get reinforced in a single race so that bi-racial children may have a somewhat better chance of being considered attractive. So when you feel people are putting you or your children at a disadvantage because of the bi-racial issue, then just think that possibly, maybe their bi-racial make-up might give them a little more physical appeal that will make up for it. It's not something that you actually would say to people, of course. Just something for you to remember when you hear people say something that makes you upset. It might help get you through it without reacting in anger or frustration.

Living as a mixed race, mixed culture or mixed religion household is a challenge. But it is also a wonderful blessing to know and share so much more than just one way of living and seeing life.
