Halloween Pics

I know that most of you know that I just don't "do" Halloween anymore. Ever since our Halloween baby shower was cancelled because the baby died...not so into the mood anymore.
But...for whatever reason dh decided that this year we were having a Halloween party at our home. He invited people and everything and before I knew it, it was a done deal.
I told him that he had to get it all together and I wanted no part of it. But like everything else in our home, he did nothing, and I jumped in at the last minute and threw it together.

So we had a Halloween party. And honestly...it was pretty fun. Since I was in charge, I kept the theme kind of cutesy. Nothing too macabe or gross. Nothing too scary. And no tombstones or anything that's disrespectful.
And so, within those guidelines...it was fun.

The biggest hit of the party was the cauldron. A few months ago I aquired one of those big cast iron cauldron planters. I found a liner that fit inside it, cleaned it up and drug it in. We filled it with witches' brew and dry ice. It was cool looking with the fog billowing out the top and around the sides!
Dh did not get one single photo of it, though. I wanted to smack him in the head, but not one pic.
Trust me, though...it was cool!

The other highlight of the party was our photo wall. I wanted a place where we could get pics of the guests/kids. We cleared this entire wall of our living room and I hung the backdrop/painting. I'm still grinning how it turned out. It's not going to be fun putting all the stuff that really goes up against that wall back...lol...but it's fun having the photo place now.

*The wall. Don't you just love that painting? I couldn't resist it when I saw it.
*The kids punch. It's called Goblin Slime. Part koolaid part jello all yicky and slimy. They loved it.
*Our ghosts. They floated around the ceiling all night. Very cool looking.

So here's Dillon, aka Ninja Turtle. I was so surprised how much he loved wearing that mask. None of the other kids have ever wanted to wear a mask, but Dillon just loved it.

And here's Zak, aka the Grim Reaper. He put his glasses on over that mask, and my oldest started calling him the Geek Reaper. He actually loved that and went back and forth between Grim and Geek all night. Lol.

And Taylor, aka the Skeleton. He originally thought he was too old for Halloween. But he changed his mind at the last minute and really got into it.

Dh and I were pirates. He picked the costumes. I don't have any good pics of my costume. He is so fired from camera duty. Not only did he not get a single pic of the awesome cauldron...all the pics he took of me were either of my chest or legs...and not suitable for sharing.

But here's one pic of us and one of my sexy pirate man.
(He has to cut off all that hair for his new job. It's going on the floor either today or tomorrow. I'm going to miss it.)

Ok, that's all. Thanks for letting me share some pics. I'm still not sure that Halloween is going to be a good thing for me and I'm still dreading Tuesday when the kids come to the house. But the party Saturday was fun, so I guess that's a start, right?

aww great pics Tess !! We went to the new shopping center across the street and took Emma to get some candy. DH will take her out again tomorrow !! Hope you don't mind if I share our costume pics here too !! Your Kiddos are darling even if they are a little scarey !
