Smile O's first day of Preschool

The day started a bit more chaotic than I would have liked, but we are not morning people around here so that was to be expected. We had to wake Owen up since he would normally sleep to almost 8am and I am not a big fan of jumping into the shower and into my day at 7am but we gotta do what we gotta do right?

Anyway, Owen did great. He was excited to go to his locker, see the teacher we met yesterday and dove right in to his activities with no looking back. He was front and center during circle time and was not shy in the least. The parents snuck out of the room after a few minutes for our orientation, and after that I just left. He was doing so well, I had no reason to disturb him so my neighbor (her son is in the same class) and I hung out at a coffee shop until it was pick up time. Of course he didn't want to leave, but we treated the kids to the play center at McDonalds today so it was a decent trasition.

We were both exhausted this afternoon however and I'm to say we both had our meltdowns. We attempted playing outside with the neighbor kids and O did not do so well with that so we came back home. After we got back here, he was good as gold. I could tell he was tired and overstimulated, so just having quiet Mommy attention was what he really needed.

We should get into a better routine next week. Thankfully I'm carpooling with the neighbor and she will do the 8:15 drop offs and I'll do the 11:30 pick ups. Yeah! I can focus on getting O out the door then I can take a leisurely shower and not feel like I was fired out a cannon at the crack of dawn like I did today. Anyway, here are some pictures.

by the way, I did get a lump in my throat several times, but held it together and didn't cry!

He looks so happy in those pics Annette!! Seems like he's going to love preschool!

An 8:15 drop off!!! That is early. I don't take Catie up to her preschool until 9:30. Mind you, I don't pick her up until about 2:30 so it's a longer day.

Oh Nette, Owen looks so cute! He looks like he LOVES IT! Look at the smile on that kid's face! I have to say I get teary eyed looking at those first two pictures! He looks so small to be wearing that Thomas back pack! Our boys grow up entirely too fast!

Ps. I'm glad you were able to get some much needed "me" time at the coffee shop with your neighbor too.

Oh those pics are just too sweet!!! Look at him!! Such a big boy w/his backpack. I'm getting all teary and he's not even mine. Lol!
I wonder now if i should've put Hyland in preschool this year. With her birthday she can't even start kindergarten till she's 6 and i didn't want her going too soon. Definitely going to pre-k next August though. It looks like Owen is going to love his new school.
