after seeing numerous pictures of a gymboree cherry pie dress on the la board scarlett was begging me to get it so she could wear it on the first day of school. well we did not have it in time to wear it for the first day...but we finally got it last week. (for those that have not seen the dress it is a deep red with white polka dots) . i finally caved and got one nwt from ebay after a few unsuccessful attempts.
so we get the dress, take it out of the envelope...she takes one look at it and looks at me and says the following....

"mommy i can't wear polka dots"

<--me "huh?, why can't you wear polka dots?"

"because polka dots are for babies. if i wear that to school the kids will make fun of me"

someone just give me a wall now so i can go in a corner somewhere and do this
then this morning i got out her recital tshirt for her to wear to school and she informed me that she could not wear that to school because it would look "stupid"

Oh girl I hear you - Becky's sister is north of the border in my house
Up until this summer I could pick out clothes to buy for her and also every day pick out her outfits to wear - well that sure went out the window the last few months 
The outfit has to be a skirt or dress, (I have tons of capris that barely got worn) eventually we came to a compromise, alternate outfits (capris, shorts one day, skirt, dress the next) - then the hairstyles.........she actually asked me to talk to her hairdresser about this style she saw on TV she thinks Mammy should be able to magically do - give me patience (either that or a stiff drink!!! 
) I love my daughter, she is a great kid but I see the teenage years ahead of us as a bit of a nightmare

My dd went through that at age four. Now she is embarassed to sit in her booster seat in the car because the kids will laugh at her.
Most children here are not in carseats after age two or so. It is always something, isn't it?

Yep! Welcome to my life!
Syd is such a diva and it is driving me insane. I'm seriously thinking of getting a gift card for her clothes this Christmas so she can pick them out herself instead of me taking everything back I can relate hon. 
I have a feeling that it isn't going to get better any time soon.
