Are you Facebook friends with your kids' birth parents?

Hi-
I am Facebook friends with DS's grandmother which is completely normal for us as we have an open adoption. I found his birthmom and I'm a little unsure if I should add her as a friend. No particular reason not to add her as I love her as if she was my own daughter....so I wondered...what about other adoptive parents. Do you "connect" with your child's birthfamily on social networking sites such as Facebook or My Space?

Thanks,
Cathy

I am not. I think I looked for bmom and she wasn't there, but I am almost 100% sure she won't get on it.

I have looked for Bmom once as well with no luck, but not sure I would add her. She closed the adoption so I don't know how she would feel about it and wouldn't want to put her in that situation.

I'm friends with BM's sister, but I haven't looked up her yet. But we are recently in contact with BM after five years through e-mail.

Yup! DH & I are both friends w/the kids' BM. For me, it's an easy way to share pictures of the kids.

Yup, with the two who we have relationships with but our first adoption is completely closed and we lost contact with Miranda's birth mom. This gives me an idea for trying to track her down. Off to search for her on FB now!

I'm now friends with BM as well as her sister. It was kind of wierd to see her picture after all these years!
