Last night I was trying to find my other wafle maker to use on my quest to make the perfect waffle. We have a "Grinch" wafle maker that was a gift and ds likes it for some reason but I wanted to use the traditional one with square dents. Anyways I didn't find the wafle maker in time to use it but I did find that we have had mice in the pantry.
Spent the night emptying the pantry and cleaning up droppings. I still have to clean the floor and shelves with a disinfectant of some kind.
I'm totally creeped out.
Does anyone remember me complaining probably last year about the cat sitting and staring under the dishwasher? I guess we know why now. I don't think they have been going in the pantry that long though cause I would have noticed the droppings.

Ick! What a pain! We had them in our apartment when we first moved to Il and everyone I talked to made it seem like it was commonplace...maybe here in the corn belt, but not where I am from. Where I am from they carry Hantavirus and they are not something you want to cohab' with. My neighbor has one (a few?) and he doesn't think it's a big deal.

Ewwwww. I'm sorry your dealing with mice. While I would not be deathly fearful of disease, it is still creepy and I would not want them in my house, esp near my food! maybe the cat got rid of them for you earlier??

We have an occasional mouse that like at your house identified by the cats staring at the dishwasher. Have never seen "evidence" anywhere except in the cupboard under the sink. There is a hole between the cupboard and dishwasher. We keep a trap along the wall inside the cupboard and occasionally catch one. No staring at the dishwasher. When the staring starts again, we set a trap again.
We have found that the new "pinch" kind of traps are more effective than the old-fashioned kind. I wouldn't use poison. You may end up with dead creatures in your walls - probably won't stink, but wouldn't like it anyway.*****************

Well dh insisted that he didn't need to move the dishwasher and went under the house, he did find a hole in one of the vent screens but then had to move the dishwasher and he sealed up the wall holes so they can't get through. Hopefully this is the end of them. Not how I wanted to spend my time though

WE got rid of the mice and rats and big Ben when we did insulation under the floors (blown in hard styrofoam type) and also when we did the kitchen over. Guess there were holes in the floor and walls an behind appliances. I also keep everything in closed containers and have a stash of wooden clothes pins for the chips... they work well and are cheap. Hope your critters go away SOON!
