Friday was our usual pizza and movie night. Saturday (NYE) we just relaxed, dh worked. We watched movies and the kids went to bed around 10. Tatyanna was asleep right away, we thought Vincent would make it to midnight but when we went into his room at 11:45pm he was fast asleep. Dh and I rang in the new year together. Nothing too exciting.
Sunday slept in and missed church. We took down the tree and decorations, then rearranged part of the living room and really cleaned it from baseboards up. We had steak and baked taters for supper then we went and saw the fire works. Came home and hung out for the evening."One of the deepest secrets of life is that all that is worth doing is what we do for others." Lewis Carroll

The boys have all been off work/school since before Christmas and are both back to reality tomorrow. It will his ds hard cause he's been staying up late and sleeping late. Dh doesn't change his routine much. It hasn't been too bad but I'll be happy to have them both away tomorrow.
Fri we took Baxter to the groomers, dropped my car off for an oil change and thendh & I went to the movies. We ended up seeing Tin Tin which was alright.
Saturday we went snowshoeing, only did 2.5 miles cause we got a late start due to me forgetting my boots and having to go back for them then bad traffic. Baxter enjoyed himself he probably did 4 miles cause he runs ahead then comes back to us. We have to figure out how to keep snow from building up in his paws. Traffic going home was horrible, it took an hour to go 3 miles, no actual accident or anything just volume everything was fine once we got past that point. Stopped for dinner, struggled to stay awake till midnight.
Sunday pretty quiet. Dh went for a bike ride drove to the start point and realised he forgot his helmet and bike shoes so had to go home for them. Made me not feel as bad about forgetting my boots the day before. lol I cooked a ham, for dinner, made rolls from scratch and a chocolate cream pie that used tofu. I didn't tell ds about the tofu pie cause I knew how he would react, I will tell him once the pie is gone as right now he thinks its really good.
Today pretty quiet too but I do need to go out to the grocery store.peako

Not too much going on here. We stayed in for New Year's Eve. The kids stayed up and we all made it to church early on Sunday. Not too many people there!
Dh had most of last week off and he's been cleaning out the garage. Soon we might even be able to get a car in there! A lot of unpacked boxes, papers, toddler toys and a lot of sentimental and/or heart-wrenching reminders of days gone by. I showed Sophie an u/s picture of her and she had no interest at all. I found a u/s of the 3 blasts we transferred, but we've never gone into detail w Duncan, so I didn't show him, much as I wanted to. Not the time.
Today we took a nice family bike ride along the intercoastal waterway. Just beautiful. Due to my problem foot, I haven't exercised at all in months, but bike riding seems to agree with my foot. We joined a club or gym and I hope to start using weight machines soon. I've really let my body go and I want to rediscover those long lost muscles that I used to have.
Tomorrow we go back to work, but the kids still have some vacation left.Robin

Left Fri am for St. Louis/my dad's. our new vehicle has slightly less storage space than our old van, so there were a few tense moments loading up, but it went OK. Got there and gave dad his gifts, unpacked. Dh looked at dad's computer discovering the modem was not working. He calls and gets the proper model number needed. We went to Best Buy and got that for him, then to sporting goods place for shoes for H, ended up getting all 3 kids some stuff (pretty good sale), then met our friends for dinner. Went to their house after for a while. Sat--slept in, dh worked on dad's computer. Warm enough for outside play, indoor and outdoor games with the girls. To the park late afternoon but it was SOOOO windy that it was not too comfortable despite nearly 60 degrees. Ordered out for pizza for dinner. Planned to stay up till 12 but I was soo tired (AF arrived) that the girls and I ended up going to bed at 11 (and R was asleep before 10). Sunday to brunch with dad, skipped church. Rather poor service but food was good. My cousin came over for dinner, dh cooked, and we did have some wine with dinner. Played a game after we ate. She'd been up till 3am Sat night so she left by 8:30 or so. Today we left about 9:15, stopped for lunch where a woman in the restroom asked if R was my granddaughter! Home long enough to start the laundry, then drove twins to basketball practice. R went over to a friends while they were there, I finished unpacking, continued laundry, put a casserole together for dinner, and got stuff ready for school tomorrow before picking them up.

Friday Vini ordered the UFC fights on cable and had about ten friends over to watch. Two wives came along. I stayed up talking with them until one am but finally had to go to bed. One guy, Diego, was a mess since he and his wife recently separated. This was his first time out socializing in a few months and I guess he drank too much and was crying. Vini put him to bed in the guest room. Another guy, a young (20) cousin of a friend who had tagged along, fell asleep on the couch so Vini turned off the lights and left him there.:-)
The three of them went to breakfast in the morning. I went to yoga. We watched movies in the afternoon, then went to a nice restaurant for a late dinner. After dinner, dropped Cole at a party, not expecting to see him again till after midnight. While we were watching a movie around 11:30, Cole came in.Surprised, I asked him if everything was ok. He said ” All my friends were wasted and I just couldn't handle it, so I left.” I felt badly for him but was so proud of his decisionmaking. So we rang in the new year together.
Sunday was a brunch with my sisters, then not much else. Monday was yoga, then we saw the new Dragon Tattoo movie, then I worked at home until bedtime. Have some deadlines today.Me 54, DH 34, Max 22, Cole 17

Friday the kids stayed at my dad and stepmom's house overnight, so dh and I went out to dinner. Nothing fancy, but I was excited to break out my new sexy boots and new sweater
After dinner, we went to Target for a few things and came home and watched Zodiac (movie about the zodiac killer)
Saturday, we went to the grocery store for some munchies for NYE. My mom came over in the evening, so all of us had some crab legs, pizza and snacks and watched a movie. After she went home, the kids, dh and I just hung out, watched the countdown, went to bed.
Sunday, my ds asked me to go see the Muppet movie with him (his treat)
We had such a nice time, really fun movie. Then dd took me to a late lunch
I am such a lucky mommy. We took the tree down in the evening and watched Mr Popper's Penguins.
Monday morning, I got a call from my mom. Her dog of 15 years died
I went over to help her get him in a box and we all went up to my dad's house where we have the family pet cemetery. We all buried him and then spent some time talking. Did my grocery shopping, finally got in some reading time.

I took my tree down on the 26th. Looking at it just makes me sad.
Friday I went out with a friend to watch another friend's band. Saturday the dudes and I just ran some errands during the day and ate pizza at night. Hub has an innate way of making me feel like I am unnecessary in the evenings, new years eve was no different, so I skulked off to bed around 9:30. Van crawled in and snuggled with me though, so it was OK. Sunday we stayed at a hotel in another town so the boys could play in the pool and they did! They must have spent a total of 5 hours in that thing over the 18 hours we were there. We had dinner at Outback on Sunday. My food was fine; everyone else really loved theirs. Finished putting up my few winter decorations yesterday. They take the edge off of leaving the holiday season behind--now if it would just snow!
Happy new year everyone!Mom to ~

I'm a staunch believer in keeping the tree up until Jan 6. Christmas lasts 12 days, not just one.
