    NL is lying...

... about her age. No way is she over 40. Uh uh.

However, she's telling the truth about everything else! We had a lovely dinner, and absolutely forgot to take a picture. I don't have a camera phone, though, just an ancient brick phone from 1996!

We had a sitcom-worthy meeting. When she told me her hotel, I naturally assumed she'd be staying at the one in Hollywood. She didn't know there was any other one than the one downtown, which I didn't know existed. So after fighting traffic to get to Hollywood, I called her from poolside to say "I'm here, by the pool, but I can't find the firepit." At her hotel, the pool was on the roof, so she said "Are you upstairs?" I said, "Well, hmmmm, I don't think so..." because MY hotel is built into a hill and I thought maybe I had somehow come in the "upstairs" entrance. At this point she was probably thinking, "OK, first she's late, then she doesn't even know if she's upstairs or downstairs or somewhere in between."

Then she asked me the address of the hotel I was at - I said "Sunset Boulevard and Sweetzer." She said, "I'm on Wilshire and Flower." Uh oh. That's about half an hour away....

So poor NL grabbed a cab and met me halfway - on a street corner! Luckily, I pulled up in my big white truck just as she was getting out of the cab.

After that inauspicious beginning, we had a wonderful meal at a Thai restaurant I hadn't been to in years - but it's a great little spot and I'm glad I remembered it!

We talked & talked & talked, ate duck rolls and fish and coconut rice. Drank wine and coffee and water. Excused ourselves to the ladies room.

Then I drove her back to her hotel, where a limo whisked her off to the airport, and I was left wishing we lived closer so this could be a weekly meal instead of a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing.

And yes, NanceLee is every bit as lovely, inside and out, as you would imagine. She's hurting, but she's thinking and talking and living and learning. And I think she's going to a party alone tonight. Right, NL? Love you, lady!

    She is gorgeous, isn't she?

Sounds wonderful! I am envious over the meeting and the Thai food, if not the crossed signals.

    NYGal....

I have a "brick" phone from 1997 too! When I showed it to the "Sprint Guy" the other day.....I thought he was going to wet his pants he laughed so hard!!!!

He said "you know you CAN upgrade your phone for free???" I laughed and told him I liked my ancient phone because I can rest it on my shoulder when I'm multi-tasking (you know; driving, ordering at Wendy's and refereeing 3 toddlers all while talking on my cell phone!!!!!!!)

sounds like your afternoon was lovely....

I am so pleased you had such a great time... wish I could have joined you...

I had the pleasure of speaking with Sherry <NYGal> over the phone and she is just as sweet audibly <is that a word> as she is on-line... I would have been a mess trying to make dinner... as it was I feel asleep FIVE times last night <sitting upright> before I even made it to my bed... terrible tired... what a week! Moving is no fun!!!

Glad to hear you had such a wonderful time, but I am insanely jealous. She lives to close for me to have never met.
Well aren't you just the most adorable black hole of need.
